The problem with paying taxes in the US is that our tax money goes away to either the war or to China (as interest for our loans). You could say that the tax payers are funding the People's Army of China.
The money for maintaining our infrastructure (i.e. fixing roads, schools, etc.) comes from us borrowing more money from the Chinese. Each state does get a small sum of funds from their tax payers though.
