Ever heard the term working poor? Or poverty cycle? All that idealistic bullshit Republicans spew out about free enterprise evaporates the minute you have an uneven playing field.
Also, the trickle down theory is bullshit. The rich statistically spend a far lower percent of their income on commodities. And without a greater demand for a product companies have no obligation to spend the extra money they saved from tax cuts by hiring new employees.
I've got a new term for you, wage slave.
[editline]19th November 2010[/editline]
We could talk about what's flawed in our system. But to make it easier for us, David Harvey already gave a speech about it, and RSA animated it. BTW, thanks MercZ for the link.

the fact that a lot of people think its possible to one day be rich is why this stupid system is still up
Keep in mind that political socialization, self-interest is one of the biggest influence in your party choice. A large number of the people in that party are usually conservative and rich. They just want a government that doesn't suck off any of their money.

It seems smarter to give the money to the poor so that way they could spend it and it would go to the rich also if the poor got the money there would be more educated people making life better for everyone
Like you're one to look up to.
But homosexuality is not a choice and should not be treated as such.
I thought they choose to be gay, not born with it.
I thought they choose to be gay, not born with it.
There are things called environmental factors I think you should look up on.
Like you're one to look up to.
He's got a point though.
All I particularly want to know is why republicans think cutting taxes will pay off debt
[editline]20th November 2010[/editline]
I mean, surely there must be some logic behind it, maybe stimulate the economy or something?
[editline]20th November 2010[/editline]
but that just means that companies get money and the government gets less since they cut taxes
Why are you a stupid liberal shitposter?
Why are you a stupid conservative shitposter?
lolllll republicans suck their going to ruin this country and turn us into a dictatership rofl
Well let me ask YOU!
WHY do you want raise taxes for the top 2%?
they have enough money already
[editline]20th November 2010[/editline]
OP is a liberal idiot.
1WHY do you want lower taxes for the top 2%?
I believe that by lowering taxes you encourage business and that helps the economy.
2WHY do you want poor people to die painfully?
I do not want them to die painfully, where did you get that idea?
3WHY do you hate gays so much?
The party is split by the issue; I personally do not like gays because of my protestant roots.
4WHY do you complain about how people are trying to steal your freedoms, yet you try to enforce your own systems of morality on other people by outlawing gay marriage, abortion, and illegalizing marijuana?
Alot of conservatives (in the USA) have protestant beliefs, so social decency is important to us.
5WHY do you hate muslims
We hate terrorists, not muslims.
6WHY are you so racist?
7WHY do you insist on getting rid of the regulations that the US put in place when we were in a time of economic exploitation?
Encourage business to thrive = Good economy.
8WHY do you hate workers unions that work for the betterment of the working class?
Unions put alot of pressure on big business.
1. I doesn't encourage. It was just used to get the republicans a way to give rich a break and get greedy themselves.
2.Rep's just fucked over the poor.Think about that.( Can someone from FP find the article about Rep's blocking the bill to give some money to the poor)
3.Homophobe.
4.There silly.
5.just a FYI Muslims aren't terrorists.
6.Why do you skip this ?
7.Getting rid of regulations causes major risks in work space.Famously BP OIL SPILL.No regulations...right
8.Unions are good because they actually don't help big buisnesses
fuck tha rich we should spread the wealth
its not like they work hard for it anyway
no they dont. a job you get payed 7$ for is harder then ones you get payed 1000nds for.
no one gets millions shoveling shit and the fact that republicans think its the poor person fault that there poor just proves how little they know about it
1. Because the top 2% deserve their money. I have the utmost respect for CEOs and high ranking members of companies because of their hard work and determination. You make your own luck.
Yeah because being born into a rich family is totally hard work and determination
2. I don't mind poor people. I DO mind people who live off welfare and refuse to get jobs.
People born into poverty and who's parent live of welfare have no hope in getting off it.
4. While I think gays have the right to marry, I think abortions should only be used in the most extreme situations. (Example: rape)
Fair enough, I respect people's opinions on abortion, I personally think that it should only be legal in the first 18 weeks with a valid reason (i.e. you don't want to spoil your career or you have too many children).
5. I do admit that I am somewhat prejudiced towards Muslims. It's hard to be accepting towards them after all the terrorist incidents over the past ten years.
Why? Most Muslims wouldn't dream of blowing up themselves. It just so happens that the main terrorists are in the middle east where Islam is predominate.
7. Because I strongly believe in a free-market system. Government, in our minds, is the problem, not the solution.
Agreed, the government can be a huge problem, but when it is completely democratic it is much, much favourable to being run by undemocratic large businesses.
8. Unions have a tendency of being manipulative and deceitful. They're usually not working for the good of the people. Look at the situation in France.
On rare occasions, yes they can be a problem, but they're vital in assuring that the working people aren't fucked over by corporations and governments. If it weren't for unions then the working people would be abused and have a very poor quality of life.

1. Yes it does. If you mean breaks or special privileges to giant companies then i agree, but no, otherwise yes it does.
2. They didn't extend unemployment because our economy is in shambles and our government is trying to conserve money, it is sort of what they try to do (supposedly)
3. Whatever
4. Laws of morality are indeed stupid.
5. Right, your point is ... well you have no point, that is what he said.
6. I don't know, probably because the question was stupid
7. Whatever, except the bp oil spill thing, that could have been avoided but wasn't, not by the company but by the government.
8. That isn't always a good thing, they cause giant markups in prices and whereas i agree they are constitutional, legal, and a good way to control your workplace in times of serious issues, they go way way overboard with it and cause prices for goods to rise.
Sorry to say, but both parties are equally pieces of shit.
boo hoo i dont take economic opportunities or want to take responsibility and move up in the occupational world
i just want to bitch and moan about how people who do dont deserve their money

The concept of workers unions is a fine one, the only issue is that practically there are a lot of corrupt unions. Which isn't a fine one.
