Well, I can honestly say that i do not like gays. I live in California near the largest gay community in the United States. I COULDN'T care less whether they get the right of marriage.
The only thing i can say that honestly reflects my opinion on the issue is: Tough.
But on what logical grounds is the government supposed to base such restrictions? Surely you can't believe that the government should pass laws based on conjecture with no evidence. If you think that it is wrong for government to keep the existing restrictions in place then thats something you'll have to take up with the supreme court. They never passed a law saying gays could not marry, However marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman.
Well, I can honestly say that i do not like gays. I live in California near the largest gay community in the United States. It's fucking fascism.

Instead, persecute homosexuals. Your logic is so sound.

Legal definitions can always be subject to revision.

For something to reach the supreme court, you generally must violate the law, but given the nature of marriage, you can't really manage that. Instead people are trying to pass laws expanding the scope of marriage and they keep getting cockblocked because old conservatives show up religiously to vote.
Therefore, do not change the legal definition. Instead, persecute homosexuals. Your logic is so sound.
Who said anything about persecution?
thats not a reason to not just let gays marry
Sure it is. Legalities and all. They don't want to touch such a controversial issue, but that doesn't mean you have to stop trying. I am one of those conservatives, and i am not religious.
Who said anything about persecution? Sure it is. Legalities and all. That is why i said take it up with the supreme court.
You're still dodging questions. Gunfox asked you how gay marriage hurts the community, you ignored that. You spoke out against gay marriage, calling it socially indecent, but then proceed to tell us that you don't care either way. Where do you stand and where do your ideals originate from if you don't consider yourself religious?
fuck politics
And I now have enough. You see, had he even begun to produce reasons for his point of view, I'd be fine with it. I disagree on a fundamental level, but even if his logic was flawed, an attempt at backing up his opinion should be respected. Instead I was met with the same bullshit that I always hear from homophobic conservatives. They have no reason except for gays make them feel "icky". So it's on to plan B!
Great how against a retarded OP, republican responses still managed to be more retarded. Don't go changing on us.
Who said anything about persecution?
Treating a group of people negatively because of a minor difference between them and you is persecution.
Oh right did I not mention the part where homophobia is considered on par with racism on facepunch? Silly me.
(User was permabanned for this post ("The only thing I can say that honestly reflects my opinion about your ban: Tough" - GunFox))
Bravo.
Gays are just people who made a different choice. And choice is what defines us as human beings. Therefore, they should have all of the rights a normal couple would have. Why shouldn't they? But I still think marriage (An intolerant christian tradition) should be replaced by civil union.
I'm more Independent, really. Democrats? I don't want to help the poor. They're poor for a reason; they're worthless.
Get off your fucking high horse. In a capitalist society, there will always be poor people, it's just how it works. But you don't have to shit on them. People grow up in shitty situations and their lives crash. Liberals are capable of empathy, but to these situations, Conservatives aren't.

I truly respect the right, even if I'm extremely left. I think that some of the ideals, of what I think is true right is aren't bad, but, I just don't agree with it. What annoys the fuck out of me more then anything though are people who don't actually understand politics, that think they can watch an opinion program and know whats going on. People who will watch Glenn Beck or Rachel Maddow (even if I love her), and think that they now understand whats going on in our world. So many people really don't understand anything about politics, and I know we have to live with it, but, ugh. Unlike 99% of Facepunch, if my parents were extreme right, I'd still be extreme left. If I was a white kid growing up on a farm in Alabama, I'd still be extreme left. I respect some of the people who are actually putting up intelligent arguments in this thread, but, for you idiots raging endlessly at each other without any actual basis, stick to videogames kiddies, and instead of having the news explained to you, read some books, don't watch Fox or MSNBC, and try to truly understand what everyone is actually all about. You might be surprised. Also to my fellow Liberals, don't rage at the right. Do you think there are actually evil people? Or do you think that they just don't see the evil in what they do? Like Bush, he wasn't evil, he was just an uncompromising right purist. Some of the things we might have considered terrible, but, do you think he thought that? He did the most conservative things, and thus, he didn't see a problem with his administration and he left with a clean conscious. I strongly disagree with his views, but, I don't hate him personally. He was just doing what he thought was good.
Biased OP; fail thread.
Gays are just people who made a different choice.
not this again [editline]21st November 2010[/editline]
they were born that way.
environmental factors
environmental factors
Yeah I was hitting myself for omitting that, but it still doesn't change the fact that they have no say in the matter.
They have the 'trickle down' theory type of deal going on with this. Incorrect assumption. They intend to aid through free economic support, not direct social aid. This is barely half of republicans. These are split issues that liberals as well as conservatives are split on. Assumptions on your part. Stereotype and a minority. See above. Belief in self regulation of the free market and the fact that compared to the 20s, 30s, and 40s, exploitation in the economy is far lower, and they find these regulations too restricting and unnecessary. Most unions are corrupted businesses run by rich folk that look out for their own interests first and the laborers that they represent second. I've never heard them say this. It's not true regardless. To get people like u mad?
Well played sir, well played. :golfclap:
I'm more Independent, really. Democrats? I don't want to help the poor. They're poor for a reason; they're worthless.
wow you are a stupid person
Conservatives = Anti-freedom (pro-life, oppose gay marriage, want to lock down our borders and shoot all on site) Liberals = Pro-freedom (pro-choice, stand by gay marriage, feel we need less aggressive border protection laws) I'm also fucking sick of hearing the republicans say they want to repeal the healthcare bill and use the excuse 'it's costing too much money'. Why don't you take a look at how much we're spending on our incredibly bloated military budget we don't even need. A few guys with AK47's and RPG's over in the desert across the world aren't that big of a threat to us. Otherwise, how could you oppose universal healthcare that would benefit...Everyone...Even if it costs you an extra $100 in taxes per year. Basically what they say is that if you can't afford to be taken care of, then go fucking die. That's honestly something I think Stalin said at one time, I think conservatives are the REAL socialists.
That's honestly something I think Stalin said at one time, I think conservatives are the REAL socialists.
You're confusing socialism with Stalinism.
You're confusing socialism with Stalinism.
Probably but what I'm saying is that I constantly see republicans whining about how Obama is a socialist muslim who wants to take their guns away and strip them of their freedoms yet don't realize that that's what THEY want to do, not him.
Not all conservatives and republicans are stupid, it's just a majority are. It's like how most democrats are fuck nuggets spenders because they spend a fuck load on many things.
