The downturn began in 07' no matter what any goddamned textbook says.
The '00s will be remembered for the social revolution. Social networking to the scale of myspace and Facebook didn't even exist in the 90s. I think myspace was the biggest impact of the '00s, even if it is a piece of shit, it still spurred the creation of Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and other sites of the nature, which definately changed life, its even effected political elections.

Uhh, none of those decades you mentioned are revolved around a single event, yet you believe the '00s will? People remember the Vietnam War when thinking about the '60s, but if someone were asked what label was the '60s, it would be the hippie decade, not the Vietnam War decade. Sure the Iraq War and 9/11 will be big topics remembered about the 2000s, but when someone will ask someone about it 30 years from now, they're not going to say it was the Iraq War decade.
End of USA supremacy.

Every generation has bad music and "emo" kids, it's never changed.
Integration of the internet into most areas of our lives and the rise of truly affordable PCs.

I think most people won't want to remember them.
Every generation has bad music and "emo" kids, it's never changed.
That reminds me of someone else on here who said something along the lines of "now employers will have to accept people with 20 piercings on their face and tattoos down both their arms because it's standard now," like rebellious kids didn't exist ever before nor is there anyone who looks respectable.

exactly why i mentioned "whatever globaly popular lifestyle we have now" (mainstream gaming could be but i think it unlikely since it was there already in the 90's)

Why, this was the Age of Creation! Now that we have mastered destroying life with our nukes and guns and pointed sticks, we are now working on mastering the CREATION of Life! We are making robots, simulations, realistic prosthetic organs/limbs, and even clones or genetically produced organisms! Let's end the decade on a good note.
