actually certain views of the universe look almost exactly like that neuron.

the way that things naturally form is always branched and spindly it seems.
you see the pattern all over nature, lightning stikes come to mind.
we're nothing more than apes
abnormality
superficial
human disgusting traits
can people stop saying we're so uncomplicated, unevolved and when it comes down to it, disgusting creatures?
that's completely untrue, we are one of nature's finest work's of art on this earth. hell, we're one of the few animals who knows what art is, and for all we know, the only ones who can comprehend it.
it's actually funny cause i've been watching the final episodes of BSG (it's actually pretty awesome in my book, fuck the critics) and one of the cylon skin jobs (bio mechanical machine, like the terminators in terminator, except they're completely biological and almost the same compared to humans) named cavil was going off about how he couldn't see gamma rays or smell dark matter.
my response? dude, what if dark matter stinks? it's all around us?
a crude joke, but with a deeper meaning i think really applies to people who complain how unsophisticated and crude our bodies are.
i think it's best we're so unevolved at this point. because when we come out of our state of innocence (if that happens before we all kill ourselves) when we figure out the mysteries of the universe we'll either unify or destroy each other. from then on it's noblesse oblige, granted we unify.
we will ascend one day, but until that day comes enjoy what you fucking have. some animals on this planet can't even hear OR see, so count your lucky stars assholes and thank god you're not some waterbear who can't even feel love.

My wife is a waterbear... I'm offended.
And we've evolved extremely rapidly in a mental sense, ever since we created an overly-complex language system. We've also gotten very lazy as a species in a physical sense.
Humans are awesome, we are a means for the universe to be self-aware
We can also be pretty stupid but that's not really our fault, we're running off hardware that's thousands of years out of date in regards to our environment. The best we can do is strive for ourselves to be better and help one another achieve the same.
Only hope can give rise to the emotion we call despair. But it is nearly impossible for a man to try to live without hope, so I guess that leaves Man no choice but to walk around with despair as his companion
i know it's been said a thousand times before but i'll say it again.
courage is being scared shitless but saddling up anyway

that's sort of what i'm talking about. physically things can evolve only so much, especially when they start making things that make their lives easier and thus make the genepool wider and not as good.
but when we come upon auto-evolution, things will change and we'll catch back up in the evolutionary loop.
our brains are the most important part of our bodies and our evolution. our minds will one day be our true savior. think deus ex (the video game) and all the other cyber punk shit. our evolution is no longer physical. our evolution lies in our minds and what we create now.
that is unless everyone wants to drink their food and scoot around on hovering lounge chairs all day.
i think native americans had their shit figured out.
They took from the land and they shared with the land. They didn't treat the Earth like it was theirs, because it wasn't. Even tribes who were at war seemed to share this common trait of thinking the world was a place that was to be respected. Really, were there any tribes who waged war solely for empirical purposes?
i think people overlook just how much the white man fucked over the natives. because they fucked them over big time.
You guys know about the conscious transfer thing, right? This sometimes makes me shit myself because I think I have to phase out of existance for me to wake up the next morning

i actually heard that the native americans for the most part had some of the most civilized physical disputes in the history of man.
like the opposing side would pray for the dead and pay their respects and vise versa, and everyone was getting a proper burial. stuff like that.
and they had rules too.
and among tribes war was like a last resort to resolving disputes.
Hey neoseeker where did you go for such a long time? just curious you used to post here a lot but then you didnt for a long time

Lovers are like The Doctor. You'll never forget your first one.
Like, mine was Patrick Troughton. It took some time for me to really get connected with him, and I never really felt like I got to know him as well as I'd have liked to, but I had a good time nonetheless. I never stopped thinking about him after he left. There was something about him that makes him so unforgettable: The fact that he was my first.

if i held in all my sneezes throughout my life and sneezed them all at once
would my face explode?
if i held in all my sneezes throughout my life and sneezed them all at once

hmmm, your lungs would probably shrink into a small raisin because all your lifes sneezes would accumulate to a time lapse of several minutes to several hours, depending on your immunity level/allergies incorporations. All that time of constant exhale and expending pressure to your skull and sinuses during said "king sneeze" would certainly end your life.
Or you might just involuntarily shit your pants.
was looking an ant today while smoking on my friend porch, and I realized how tiny he was.
then I realized how tiny I was in the major scheme of the universe.
I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! And I want to - I want to smell dark matter! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to - I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language! But I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws! And feel the wind of a supernova flowing over me! I'm a machine! And I can know much more! I can experience so much more. But I'm trapped in this absurd body! And why? Because my five creators thought that God wanted it that way!
I think this is my favorite quote from the entire show.
I used to have it memorized by heart.
Most of us here kind of agrees that humans are fucking up the earth by depleting resources, destroying habitats, etc. The fact that humans are over populating the earth and fucking like rabbits isn't helping. This may be kinda fucked, but I think that the death of humans will actually benefit the earth and all life that inhabits it. Diseases was a factor that greatly limited our population growth, wiping out a shit load of people. But now we worked our way around this with the help of medicine and better health.
So I was thinking, what if diseases were the earth's natural defense against growing problems, like us humans. It's like the Earth is a living cell and we are the disease that is infecting it. The earth will create "antibodies" to try to kill us off in attempt to save itself. The earth's effort to save itself is not good enough, for we have avoided these "antibodies" and have already fully infected the earth. If we live the way we do today, the earth is just going to dry up and will become devoid of life.
im pretty blown atm

Ever watch the Anime Eureka 7? It deals with the antibody idea. The planet the show takes place on creates giant monsters that kill people.
But, with our improvements in medicine have come weapons of mass destruction, natural disasters also deal with population. I imagine when over-population and issues with resources drying up become a REAL issue(which, trust me, neither have yet), the governments of the world will employ restrictions on both breeding and actions that encourage the use of increasingly precious resources until we come up with man made alternatives to said resources or we'll face economic collapse and the degradation of civilization.
I picture(being a US citizen, I'm going to portray what I see for my homeland) 2 or more factions splitting the US in half(for the sake of simplicity, lets go with just the 2). One is the original US government the other, lets call them The Wartime Commonwealth of the Southern United States.
They go to war over oil stockpiles, land and livestock/farms. This war doesn't last long but the end result is the complete dissolution of both governments and the states and in some cases lone cities are left to fend for them selves. Since most states don't have enough resources on their own, nor do the individual governments formed from the war have their own military, the armed citizens are conscripted and a bloody war for the most basic resources ensues among the tattered remains of this once great nation. The conscripted citizens see fending for them selves to be more efficient, so once again the remaining governments of North America are dissolved and much smaller communes, tribes and clans form. Some composed of just several families, others from the conscripted soldiers banding together. What we're left with is Fallout: New Vegas. :p Okay, but seriously, you get the picture.

Those two quotes capture my two conflicting views of humanity. Life is beautiful, but we are constrained by our own biology. I have to come to accept that there are certain things I will simply never understand because I am physically and mentally incapable of it.
Not philosophical, but how did we get to the point where we STILL call brown people people black?
Not philosophical, but how did we get to the point where we STILL call brown people people black?
differentiating between african americans who are brown and african americans who are black would be too much trouble and wouldn't make much sense because they're the same race.
they've been called black since forever ago, no real need to change it.
it's a lot better than nigger
just say black. i mean look at white people. we call ourselves "white" but out of any race i think our skin color varies the most out of any other.

I just blew my own mind, there's a theory in itself.
And after that I am certain that there is no other god than the ones you have inside yourself. I really understand how some people can be religious, because it really felt godlike!
I'm probably not making a lot of sense, but yeah
Actually you do. To me.
Somehow though I feel more like WE (individuals) are a small part of the DIVINE, than the opposite
(which would be; the DIVINE is a small part of the INDIVIDUAL.
See, if the WHOLE UNIVERSE = GOD (or DIVINITY) when seen as ONE, then it is undoubtedly an omniscient, omnipotent being.
How is that true?
If something is not possible in the universe, it will never be.
Anything that exists has the innate "knowledge" of itself (because it developed into it). Ex.: the knowledge of how to build a set of lungs is INNATE to the human DNA even though the human individual could not do so without proper education.
Therefore in the sum of everything that exists in the universes resides:
1-The knowledge of how everything is made and functions
2-The power to do anything that is possible
Since these two absolutes can never be reached by the INDIVIDUALS, who are limited in lifespan and mental capacity, the DIVINE cannot possibly be perceived as an individual amongst other existing things. It must be EVERYTHING.
The will inside you is not a God in itself, but it is a part of the DIVINE, just like you are. This means you are all-powerful over the things you control AND understand (duh). This last sentence might sound evident, but I feel it's important to stress this out. AS A PART OF THE DIVINE, YOU ARE FREE TO DO WHATEVER YOU WANT. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE OTHERS ARE LESS DIVINE, OR LESS IMPORTANT THAN YOU. IT IS NOT BECAUSE YOU *CAN* DO SOMETHING THAT IT IS IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO DO SO.
I think once you envision your role in the universe this way, it just MAKES SENSE to thrive for knowledge of the truth and becoming a better (respectful) person, instead of 'blissful ignorance' (such a fucking oxymoron IMO) or empowerement by manipulation and deceit.
