Candy canes for young enterprise?.. Man think bigger. We designed custom mouse mats which were then made and shipped from china, 1000 in total. Cost 25p each, sold them for £2. We still have a couple hundred but we made such a profit it didn't matter.

i slapped that together, it is not done
i think it's just the placement to be honest causing the mess and clutter, that and there's a lot more information and text there as a placeholder than there actually will be

and as usual i've chosen to do an old, poster style. it's not everyone's cup of tea, but fans of the movie will love it (the fans over at blu-ray.com are incredibly happy with this style especially over the current existing cover)
and as you know i am always up for criticism, i'll never turn it down, and i even made some changes you suggested while still overall keeping the style i'm keen on.
instead of rushing it out i'll work on it and tweak it a bit more and then you can tell me what you think of the revised version. (although ultimately it seems you are not my target audience, though i'm keen to please everyone as much as i can sometimes it's just impossible)
in thumb tags of course, i know nobody (including myself) likes to see constant iterations of the same work

Candy canes aren't our main product. It's one of our 3 feeder products to get enough money in the pot to produce our main product. :v:

but bluray covers are actually useful and applicable to more than just 'i did it because' because i and others actually use them

I think it's not as much the placement that is causing the mess (although that to does it).
It is the transparent image you can't really look on without focusing. It has a lot of things going on on the top part, there are a lot of details in the image, but the image itself is transparent. Our eyes want to look at it, but our brain tells us we shouldn't, so there is a huge conflict going on there on what to look at and what not.
The information text is also held in a transparent rectangle which just makes it even more busier, there is text to be read, there is yellow to be seen and there is an image behind the yellow that we want to look at. If it had been not transparent I think it would ease up things a lot more and make it more pleasant. I'd also place it more to the left. The header is to the left, the information is to the right, the image focus is to the left, the details are midcentered and the casting is just a bloody mess.
But that's really all that bothers me. The image, the bottom casting thing, the left right left compositon and the transparent text box. Fix that up and I would like it, although I do prefer the original cover more, it's more my kind of thing.

Why would you save it as a .PNG? The file is over 2mb. It really doesn't need to be. Use a high-quality jpg instead! You'd get half the file size or less without a noticable drop in quality.

Play around with the layer blending, it looks really fake right now.
The vine thing needs to have higher contrast I think - right now it is making the crevasses in-between bricks brighter.
