The only image I've done in that method had good results by laying down values using a brush with 50% opacity and 100% flow. But I have no idea if that is correct or not. When you're done with that blending mode to multyply on the layer menu and start setting down colour. [editline]5th December 2010[/editline] Problem, automerge?

made this little guy for part of a website design i'm working on. it's supposed to be part of the logo/site mascot. It's OK overall buy you need to make the hands have more depth. Right now they look like they're paper. I think they're overlapping too much with the book, move them so that the thums thingies are not overlapping with ze book. Try and give the nose area bit more depth as well.
