not particularly good, but not bad.
Hi there. This is the first time I post in this thread. This is something I've been working on for about two days now, so it's not completely flawless.
May fit the "creative music in progress thread" better. Unless that piece is finished, in which case it wouldn't be 'in progress' so yeah... [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] TWO is not TO. I know I'm being a grammar nazi but is it really that hard? Two is a god damn number.
Oh crap, sorry. I didn't notice. Also, i'm pretty sure the OP doesn't say that the work in here can't be WIP.
No, work can be WIP here. But if it's music, there is a different thread that is specifically for WIP music and nothing else. You're just likely to get better feedback there, that's all.
I'm quite shit today for whatever reason. just a random faceworm.
Need inspiration and motivation to get myself drawing. Going to visit my future school tomorrow. Excited. Wish I could draw just as easily like 3v3 there.
I have become somewhat demoralised lately and have done no artwork at all. This is partly because my latest works have been absolute failures in my eyes but also because A Level coursework has been taking over my life these past couple of weeks. Actually I think the only thing I've done recently is some doodles in my copy of Macbeth. Aahhh I'll pluck up the courage to pick up a pencil or pen eventually... I hope.
I actually need to build up an entire portfolio in the next couple of months. Seems impossible in my eyes. I am still no good at drawing. Makes me wonder if it is really for me but want to do it though. Blogpunch

It's really weird because lately I've turned myself into a sociology tutor while doing all this other work, so I'm almost reconsidering my whole direction in life... which I really should not be doing at all at this late stage.
Blogpunch
Damn straight.
This is where I do all my drawing. Or, where I should do all my drawing. [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/IMG_3956.JPG[/img_thumb] Might need a bit of cleaning up

Ignore the "ugh I got months, I'll do it later" feeling.
You see that red thing under the pile of paper? My sketchbook.
Figured out your problem. It's that world of warcraft there.

I've been counterproductive most of the day since my room is a bit messy by regular standards. Get regular breaks when you start to get fustrated.
You're one of the few helpful FPers out there.

Maybe buy a wall full of inspirational posters.

Candles create a nice mood. I like candles. I like soft light overall. Makes me feel safe :unsmith:
Or some insence. [img_thumb]http://www.hln.be/static/FOTO/pe/16/12/9/large_480279.jpg[/img_thumb] If the smell isn't too strong.
Eucalypt oils on candle are nice. They take away coughing, too!
Is a HB pencil good for sketching and drawing random stuff?
Is a HB pencil good for sketching and drawing random stuff?
Um well it's pretty much the middle ground of pencils so yeah. You'd need a wider range for drawings with proper values though.
I have no idea how to draw with proper values etc. Or what kind of pencil in each situation.
colours are nice but stylised? PFft Fuck no, it's just a failed attempt, he can't do facial proportions to save his life. He doesn't even know about how head is shaped. I hate that "it's stylised excuse" drop the lols, man the fuck up and learn some anatomy. I use 2b most of the time since in doodling I only go for the darker values and leave midtones and such untoutched. Get a range of pencils form 6b to 6h. Try and learn to use them, [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] That stuff you posted would be acutally alot better if you pulled your head out your ass and admitted you don't know anatomy. Some of them are borderline realistic and the lack of anatomical and proportional knowledge ruins those. [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] The die slow thing has appauling shading and most of the colours make my eyes hurt. Do still lifes, practise values, do something instead of those miserable excuses that keep you away from rapid improvement.

Now that's more like it. Might've been too prejudgmentary on you, sorry about that.
I have no idea how to draw with proper values etc. Or what kind of pencil in each situation.
Basically, the B pencils are softer (soft meaning that the pencil rubs its graphite off easier) and used for dark values - the higher the number, the darker and softer the pencil is. The softer a pencil is, the harder it will be to draw detail with it (because your strokes are going to be really thick and ambiguous and dark). The H pencils are hard. ... to be honest I don't use them very much. They're very grey and sharp and can often look out of place on a piece if they're overused. They're good for doing detail with though or if you wan't to make something a tiny bit darker, but still want it to be a highlight. In terms of numbers, I usually do really light sketch work for the start of a drawing in a H pencil. The vast majority of my shading I do with a 2B pencil but sometimes I drop down as low as a 6B pencil if I'm doing a very large, very dark space such as dark hair in shadow (or areas that are pretty much pitch black or areas that need to have high value contrast to draw attention to them, like the pupil of the eye). I have no idea how to teach drawing with proper values... just look hard and long at your reference/model and try to replicate the lighting as best you can. Really pay attention. That's just my technique though and I very much doubt it's 100% correct.
