That's a double negative I have no fucking clue what that means since I've been failing maths for past 3 years But that's a double fuckign negative.
Didn't ask for it, my grandparents bought it for me. What was I supposed to say "gee thanks, but you know I suck at drawing. great fucking gift grandma"? I'd like to think I'm a bit more polite than that.
just fukken practice with your tablet. that's what I do. people who say you can't get better using a tablet, are idiots.
You can but it'll take longer than traditional. Traditional helps your muscle memory better since you have accurate and constant feedback what hand movemens do what exacly. Sure doesn't have ctrlz but it makes things more fun.
no It doesn't take longer than traditional. drawing is drawing. drawing's got nothing to do with muscle memory thats only if you want to get fast on piano, guitar etc. Drawing/painting is only about knowing where to place the lines/colours. that's it.
I do'nt know how you managed to improve such, but generally traditional is the foundation. It develops muscle memory, coordination, feel for the thing and such faster than digital. Muscle memory has quite alot to do with that. Musical instruments are the same, at the beginning you're shit, but evenutlally you get the hang of it sicne your muscles know what to do. The mroe different things you play the easier you learn new songs since your muscles allready know how to act in that situation and such. Fuck i don't know I think traditional is the shit.
Drawing/painting is only about knowing where to place the lines/colours. that's it.
Um... not really. It's one thing to know where to place "lines/colours" - that's how you're able to look at artwork and think "hm that looks good" or "that looks bad" - a low level form of critiquing. What's more important, however, is knowing how to physically place "lines/colours". By your logic, if you simply read a book on artistic theory or if you're able to see why a piece of artwork looks good or bad, then you are also able to create artwork to an equal or better standard of that which you've viewed... and that is simply not true.

What, don't you know how make a line? You learn to draw by learning how to see. For example: Instead for drawing what you think you see, you learn how to draw what you actually see. It's kinda hard to explain, but i'm sure it has nothing to do with the muscles. It's only the mind that's evolving.
You don't think about every line you place, do you? Most of the time you let your hands do the thing. Muscle memory.
You don't think about every line you place, do you? Most of the time you let your hands do the thing. Muscle memory.
Yeah i do. subconsciously.
People should start getting those laptops where you can flip the screen around and it acts like a tablet, only the SCREEN is a tablet so if you were to draw on it you'd get the same sort of feeling as traditional, as it would seem as if the stylus was actually drawing lines. Seriously that'd be so much easier. I'd probably start drawing random unskilled stuff again if I had a laptop like that. My collegue has one. He keeps using the touch screen for totally unesseccary stuff, resutling in him taking much longer to do things than usual, and it's funny.
oh fuck it. You just don't know what muscle memory does Agree to disagree.
Yeah i do. subconsciously.
Muscle memory is a type of subconscious thought. It's the reason that after a few laps of a circuit on a racing game you'll never miss the breaking point of a turn even if you're thinking about something completely unrelated when you get to it. The same goes for drawing.
Not the same. What you're talking about is called .. learning.
What? It's the same thing. Muscle memory is your muscle structures learning certain movements and then remembering them the next time you use them so you can perform those movements subconsciously. I don't even know what your line of argument is any more.

You learn cetain harmonies/algorithms in design, anatomy, form theory etc. aka. things related to the brain not muscles. Anyway, let's just leave this be. I have to go.
@Roundhouse: How was my idea dumb? Seriously, it'd be much more beneficial to have the stylus writing on the actual screen rather than a seperate tablet! I swear that's what pro graphics designers and the like use...

happens with me all the time the rating thng.
Oh I'm sorry, I was going to hit reply instead. :smug: [editline]9th December 2010[/editline]
Using muscles =/= Muscle memory. Do you even know what you are talking about? Circles, lines, faces, trees. It's all in the muscle memory, which is why it usually is really hard to draw something you haven't drawn before ; Because the muscles haven't been trained yet to draw the new shapes and forms.
Photoshop is one of the best programs for tablet. One thing is just doodling about, when you don't really give a fuck about improvement. Sure for laughs enjoy your bamboo fun. But if you're like "Ohai I wanna be a freelaenc artist and imma bought this intunious 4l drawing thing " and keep drawing tsy
Uuh, when did I say I wanted to be an artist. I actually said "doodle" in my post :colbert:

Muscle memory is about repetition, drawing is not. Shit .. What's all this about what muscle memory is.
