would not believe that I got $10 for this but I did.

was playing candy land when I broke my artist block.
it gets sucky around the legs.
[QUOTE=Rusty100;26876249]yeah yeah, another poster. i know. but it's what i do now. its a
passion
of mine
anyway, thoughts on this one?
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1482927/Posters/Black%20Swan.png[/img_thumb]
or an alternate
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1482927/Posters/Black%20Swan%202.png[/img_thumb]
which is better[/QUOTE]
I like "Black Swan" much more on the first, but I like everything else about the second poster more.
With the first one there is too much empty space and the heavy part of the illustration is tucked up in the top leaving this big uninteresting gap between the swan and the title.

[QUOTE=Heroms;26882487]There is no way a human being could get his legs positioned as shown in the picture.
Notice the head of the swan and the wings. It gives the impression that it is facing one way while one leg is backwards.
quick sketching of how it would look like in paint;
[img_thumb]http://imgur.com/AZuBW.png[/img_thumb]
[editline]22nd December 2010[/editline]
This is fixable by positioning the swan's head and wings to face towards the back of the poster as the girls in the picture you posted. The way he has it now doesn't make sense.
[editline]22nd December 2010[/editline]
I mean theoretically this position probably could work if you got a swan's head and placed it on one of the girls because their heads and flexible and all that, but it just doesn't work on paper.[/QUOTE]
The only problem I really see is that the leg that is bent is way too short. The pose the swan being is doing is fully possible. It also seems like you're saying that it has to be a human or a swan, not both at once, given that you say it would be possible if you put the swan head on a human... Which he did...
The bent leg has the appearance of looking short, but its probably because the leg is bending toward the viewer but there is no indication of it doing so (because everything is so flat). This can be fixed by adding a curve to the back of the knee to define the tilt/mass/definition/whathaveyou. Overlaps in the form create the illusion of depth blah blah blah
[img]http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/8352/someswan.png[/img]
To be honest I didn't know if the swanperson was facing toward me or away from me until I thought about the leg length problem.
Also as G-Foxisus said,
[QUOTE=G-foxisus;26876294]Middle is highly detailed, whilst the rest is rather bland. Though I have no suggestions on how to fix it. (the swan thing itself)[/QUOTE]
I don't really understand why you have negative space/the background dividing between the black and the white, but then again I don't know what the white space is exactly. The thing G-fox was talking about can be fixed by removing the division between the black and the white, but that's up to you and etc.
Personally I like the first fullbody poster, just so the viewer can get the whole pose.

I continued to say that it doesn't work on paper. And it really doesn't. It still looks awkward as hell.
i traced a reference for the legs
stop telling me its not accurate u are making things up

it does not look awkward to me
[editline]23rd December 2010[/editline]
at all
[editline]23rd December 2010[/editline]
besides, as for head placement, it's a silhouette
i dont mind if it's not anatomically correct

i like the full body one more too. i like the negative space too. less is more, and i haven't made it in a way where the negative space is distracting from the focal point, it draws you in to it.
Hey Rusty can I see the reference I honestly can't picture it in my head
[editline]23rd December 2010[/editline]
Wait yes I can it's just that swan torso and head still look awkward as hell to me.
thats what im saying. but obviously it was my intention to cross a human with a swan, its the whole idea of the movie. and i don't feel the silhouette is awkward, and its not supposed to be anatomically correct, just meant to feature both human and swan parts, in a ballerina pose.
the white part is a shard of glass, but it's also white over the swan parts because she is both the white and black swan, and a bit of her good side is shining through. i don't want to spoil the movie if you haven't seen it so i won't say any more.
Trying to get back into drawing.
Old drawing I did around a year ago:
[img]http://imgur.com/wCM0M.jpg[/img]
Some shit I did just now:
I wanted to try and do the whole visible opacity blending thing but it didn't work out too well. I think I'm gonna stick with smooth blending.
[img]http://imgur.com/0pAy5.jpg[/img]
[editline]23rd December 2010[/editline]
Also I know nothing about light and shadow.
[QUOTE=eXiv2;26881002]My advice: never post 'my first'
[editline]22nd December 2010[/editline]
Also, it seems that 3v3 is dead so you'll have to wait for his speech, but it basically consists of:
If you can't draw traditionally, you can't draw digitally. You will need the fundamentals of drawing on paper or with actual paint before you should draw with your tablet. Learn anatomy, values, shadow casts.
Put that tablet away and get a pencil and paper.[/QUOTE]
I have been drawning traditionally for 2 years. You obviously need to know perspective and anatomy.
But a tablet is absolutely different. Keep it in mind

The newest one is worse in my opinion. Try drawing some skulls to nail the shading, then move onto other objects.
I made a small remix of Triage at Dawn (SuitSong);

If you knew anatomy you knew you should've used at least some guidelines on the face. You said it was a serious piece. To me, it doesn't seem like it.
Not trying to bash you down, but it doesn't seem like you've been drawing for 2 years traditionally.
Me and my brother went outside to play with our dog.
I brought my parents camera with me. Here are the best results.

I literally got the tablet yesterday. Only now I learned how it works.

if you have been drawing traditionally for 2 years then please do prove it.

Load of horseshit. A tablet may be hard to draw with at first because you have to get used to the surface and the fact that what you're drawing shows up somewhere else but the basic process is exactly the fucking same. You don't know dick about drawing faces and you better go learn quick or else I'll have Burne Hogarth come back from the grave and beat your sorry ass.

Yes a year without any drawing whatsoever does that to you.
I thought it'd be awesome to draw a secret agent so I started doodling...
I kinda feel bad for the innocent baddie.

Great potential, you should finish it.
[QUOTE=eXiv2;26911301]Great potential, you should finish it.[/QUOTE]
What is this finishing you speak of? :P
I've seriously ever finished like a handful of drawings in the past years...
Well, you should. It would be quite a waste. I could only wish to draw like you (and practice a ton)

First thing that I saw was
[img]http://rageguy.com/media/2010/07/me-gusta.png[/img]
I thought I'd change the perspective on the first agent pic a bit, but suddenly this... :/

Another episode of evil secret agent killing honest working baddies.
[editline]24th December 2010[/editline]
I'm getting hang of this drawing malarkey although the perspective is still screwed
Edit: Okay made the legs a bit longer and the guy a bit buffier. Plus some other fixes.

The only thing that really bothers me about it is the shape of the skirt: it's too round at the edges so it looks really unbefitting compared to the rest of the image.

It doesn't look like he is walking comfortably. As if his back is tightened up and his arms to the side. Try a more relaxed pose if you can.
I lowered the arm already, try refreshing now. I think that does the trick.

Nyeh, they are too stiff. It looks like he's forcing himself really hard to hold them like that.
