I'm not sure what place may be better suited to ask this, but are there any keyboardists among you who can give some advice on ways to strengthen my left hand? Try as I might, I can't seem to play with both hands. I learn what to play with each hand seperately with little trouble, but as soon as I try to merge the left and right hand parts everything goes to shit.
All I can say is practice more, practice practice practice. Try playing songs that are really simple yet still use both hands, for example a simple melody with the right, and bass chords with the left. Work up from there.

They are showing for me [editline]14th January 2011[/editline] It's probably because I'm using imageshack

[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Stickfigs.jpg[/img_thumb] When scoring green goes wrong C&C
I don't get it.
shading is really horrible. Use a large brush instead of small one.
don't take this the wrong way but this is just a 10 minute sketch, i know how to shade properly.
Yeah but... in a sketch you can still change your brush size.
don't take this the wrong way but this is just a 10 minute sketch, i know how to shade properly.
I do know the context you say it in but shading works differently when painting.
it's not about the brush size it's about the way you put down your strokes really. shading is harder with a big brush in most instances when you work on that scale imo. this isn't me justifying that drawing btw [editline]14th January 2011[/editline] oh nvm im talking a bit rubbish actually, i just noticed i've been drawing on the wrong zoom levels which made the lines kind of blur which made the shading look ok anyways here's some more art from 2 years ago
okay I understand, let's forget this.
Nevermind
Seeing as Mooe94 snipped, there is no reason to keep this post too.
Here is a drawing i did of Medivh I'm still fairly new to drawing and i am aware of my errors Sorry for the crappy cel phone camera pic , i tried making it better in photoshop [img_thumb]http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/5632/medivh.png[/img_thumb]
-snip- gotta resize this shit, sorry.
I don't get it.
your not sopposed to...it was complete randomness
Found a really old wacom tablet in my house so I decided to plug it in and... it works perfectly! One of my first few digital pieces, just practicing faces: C&C is welcome, despite it not being a "finished" piece. But I am looking for any advice I can get drawing faces/portraits.
Some progress on my tooth brushing character from a few pages back Here's the original sketch so you don't have to hunt for it The pastels are too bulky to get the detail/accuracy of the fingers from the original drawing so they kind of turned into blobs. I'll have to use bigger paper next time I guess.
You like?
Fuck yeah, chaos! Sons of Nurgle, if I remember correctly. Been wanting to do one on deathshroud/plague marines as well. Shading looks incredebly messy and the front guys left hand is half-assed. You should use air perspective/depth fog to make it more understandable where one character ends and other starts. Also as a general rule on monochrome never use pure black or white.
Seeing as Mooe94 snipped, there is no reason to keep this post too.
But now I'm curious of what you wrote :( [editline]15th January 2011[/editline] I snipped because I didn't think this might be the right thread for what I posted [editline]15th January 2011[/editline] That Chaos painting would have looked 100x more awesome if it was colored still, awesome nonetheless
I wrote "Shave your hair, then there is nothing to draw." or something along those general lines. Wouldn't make sense without your post.
I like the things in the water.
Where the Hell do you guys get your inspiration from?
Think it's pretty safe to say someone gets theirs from WH40K.

But after about 6 hours of picking on it, you just loose your energy. maybe ill pick it up again sometime.
That Chaos painting would have looked 100x more awesome if it was colored still, awesome nonetheless
I ruin alot of my drawings by colouring them, the feel is just not the same.

A cheap way is to put colour/colour burn layer over the values layer. I used that on the whale thing, for example, but lately I've been working on using only colours.
