Who says I want realism?
Even if you don't want realism, people still have proportions no matter what. Do not, I swear to fucking god. Do [b]NOT[/b] post a picture of The Incredibles to counter argue my statement.
d'uh, it's just that you can't get good learning from anime, you start with realism so you understand how everything is built up (humana anatomy, buildings etc..) and when you feel comfortable enough you can start working with more unnatural beings called anime people.
Once you know anatomy, proportions, shading, what ever else,
you can draw what ever you want i.e anime and cartoons.
Ask any professional who draws that kind of stuff if he knows anatomy.
(he probably does)

I moved the texture behind him and added a shadow under/behind him. I don't really know if that shadow works there?

I think it looks ok, but the colors don't fit much..
It looks better without the texture over the skateboarder as well. Not sure on the shadow not sure it was needed more than anything otherwise it gets a bit too busy.

Little something I've been working on. Nothing serious, just for fun.
Also, soundcloud's compressor make certain hits seem off-beat for some reason. Atleast, I think I'm hearing an extra "click" here and there that are not present in the HQ version I have sitting on my desktop.

The key is to get one good flat colored circular smoke puff, then lots of copy/pasting and shading.

I made a smoke/cloud brush but it was more of a wispy kind than anything and to be honest it looks great.

The texture on the turban is weird, it reminds me of chipped paint. Looks kinda cool though.
