Personally I don't think the 1st and 3rd ones need the titles on them at all: I think the images hold enough impact by themselves. Although the little colour block for the titles suits the second cover, I think it's just intrusive for the other three- perhaps you could try the text on its own. Also, the third cover just seems to be missing something, maybe some smoke or shadows of the aliens coming out of that break in the glow above her head. [editline]12:12AM[/editline] Oh, and are you re-designing the backs of the boxarts as well?
Can anyone give me some tips etc on d*rawing clothes on people? I can't seem to get it right...
Bit of a vague question. What medium are we talking about here?
Sorry, pencil and paper.
I often have trouble frawing the clothes, I just fraw naked people.
I see what you did there :(

It just seems so out of place and unfitting. I'd recommend some very light gradient on the side cover, maybe pick a colour that is most represented in the cover image, and try to find some way to have the title clearly visible without a plain striped background to make it visible. Atta what I think. It kinda works on Aliens though, since it's blue and the bluray cover is blue and the cover image is blue.
at this point, it's pretty obvious you can't please everyone no matter what you do. i really like the style i've gone for, others really like it also, and some hate it. i'm still working on it obviously but the general style isn't really going to change much, and that's cool that you don't like it, that's why these are custom covers, not everybody has to use them if they don't want to.
I made this for my mommy  (she's a krueger fan) [IMG_thumb] http://filesmelt.com/dl/neversleep.png[/IMG_thumb]
I had already posted this in the Minecraft megathread. Pretty late actually. [img_thumb]http://th00.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/2010/280/2/9/minecraft_by_xephio-d30a07x.jpg[/img_thumb] I really don't like the stone walls and floor, looks so unfinished.
How you manage to fuck up simple one point perspective so bad? You didn't do absolutely any of the guidelining/shapebraking. Read some basic perspective and drawing tutorials.
How about being more detailed? Saying the perspective sucks in the whole drawing doesn't really help now, does it?
How about being more detailed? Saying the perspective sucks in the whole drawing doesn't really help now, does it?
I love the expressions you've drawn  They're very expressive. Aside from the perspective (which is off by quite a lot), your lightsource, the torch wouldn't light the whole of the front of the scene there in white light. The light given off would be more of a dim amber colour and would probably only cover a circular area around that corner. I've noticed you've used white and black to shade. In general I would stay away from doing that since the white would wash out out the hue (try using a contrasting colour instead, i.e a light blue on skin) and the black just gives shades of grey which you don't see much in nature (I know, this is minecraft but regardless), I usually use a dark plum-ey purple to shade but again, contrasting colours. Since you are drawing minecraft fanart in this case and your lines seem very wonky (like on the diamond blocks) perhaps you could consider drawing in perspective guide lines first and follow them when shading to straighten out your lines and perspective a bit.
fine. just and example how perspective doesn't work Here's how it does And the minecraft character. Notice what basic shapes it's made of and notice how you don't have any of them on your drawing. Seriously, it's made of basic shapes, squares and stretched squares. The basic of basic, and you didn't even bother to get them right. [editline]28th October 2010[/editline] http://sashas.deviantart.com/art/The-Perspective-Tutorial-94166651?q=boost%3Apopular+perspective+tutorial&qo=0 and drawspace.com. should give you little help.
That picture sums up pretty much everything, so you have my thanks Pespi. But i'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the character (excluding pickaxe) I've double-checked it and i don't know if that your example is wrong or mine. Aside from that, yes the diamonds are very VERY wonky, since i've drawn them without any lines of any kind.
I love the expressions you've drawn  They're very expressive. And about the light coming from the Torch, if you haven't noticed, pretty much all light sources in Minecraft are white and i wanted it to look exactly the same as the game. (except the shading of course) But thanks again!
@pespi dude: Good CC
My very first Flash animation, I'm a little bit nervous.
At first it looked like one of those disturbing creepy flashes. It's a very nice start.
Good work for your first flash. Nothing technically impressive, but a nice start.
How about being more detailed? Saying the perspective sucks in the whole drawing doesn't really help now, does it?
While the perspective may not be perfect and the lines are a bit wavy, the overall feeling is captured really well. Looking at the thumbnail picture fooled me to think that it was in-game picture.
Free time everywhere. Same character from like, 20 something pages ago. Except with a little less laziness.
I was just having some digital fun with this. Watercolour painting that I scanned then played with on Photoshop :3: Ignore the number I forgot to get rid off, it's my student number.
Yep. Was fun to draw. [editline]29th October 2010[/editline]
Same character from like, 20 something pages ago. Except with a little less laziness.
That's pretty spiffy. I love the face.
So for my final I have to do a portrait and I want to plan ahead. Who should I draw? I was thinking of doing a Han Solo portrait or Gene Kelly.
I love doing concept art.
Planning on making a wallpaper? I'd love one
I literally just finished it actually. It looks way different though. But better, in my opinion. [editline]29th October 2010[/editline] Alright, here :3: Tell me if you liked the other version more.
