Not really an "inspired" image. It's "re-created"
Inspired by ~rusty~ Based on this

I think I made his head a bit blocky.
funnily enough, i recreated the original dawn of the dead poster a week ago to stick on my wall because there were no hi-res versions of it online
my recreation:

I would try adding something to the background, maybe a few scratches or a few smudges like in the original poster, right now it seems a bit bland.
theyre not as intense as that original photo, it looks like a bad scan. but i will add a little
[editline]1st November 2010[/editline]
there you go, made it a bit more like the original

That looks like a half assed photoshop that took all of two minutes. The cutout of the bong is choppy, the smoke looks like a cheap one color brush, and the text was just thrown on there.

It looks incomplete.

Woodworking sculpture, sassafras, I really like the way it turned out. It's about 2' tall.
I wrote the beginnings of a story, I think. I've never written before so tell it like it is :D
He sat, waiting for those horrible sounds, he hated doing this. His teeth clenched and his hands braced against nearby handles as the machine started. Oh that terrible sound, when metal meets rock with great force, twisting, grinding, cracking. He could feel his body move with the machine, the machine slowly descended, gaining speed until it shot through the ground like a bullet. He braced more now, awaiting for the worst part, his eyes closed tight, his face twisted into a frown. It all stopped suddenly, the momentum, the sound, it all stopped with the machine letting out thunderous creeks as it hit the cavern floor. He opened his eyes, his forehead and hands dripping, the hair on the back of his neck standing on it's end. He put a hand to his face, wiping some of the sweat away, the other hand still resting on the handle. This is when he noticed his orientation, he was lying back, looking up. He slowly pulled the handle, opening the door. Dust fell in great amounts from the door into the interior, covering his face and clothing. “Damn!” he said as he begun a coughing fit, standing up as to get out of the confined space inside the machine. He stepped out, looking about. His coughing suddenly halted as he looked around in bewilderment, the caverns stretched out as far as the dark would let him see.
I'd rate it artistic but it just feels like it lacks function.
Beautiful piece, though.

Work in progress

Doesn't it suck when you approach your professor about making a very functional yet extremely well designed and styled end table and they reject it saying "I feel you need to do something more sculptural, take the utilitarian out of it" and then you have to spend four weeks fabricating something that has no use.

What do you guys think of this set of mods to an Electra bicycle I'm going to buy.
Stock,

Modified,

The mods would be changing the tires out for big balloon beige tires, changing the saddle out for a very nice leather springer brooks saddle, ditching the chain guard, dropping all the stickers, changing the headset to a road bike headset and modding up a set of drop down cafe style bars and wrapping them with khaki exhaust wrap in a rat-rod style. Also possibly a short rear fender as pictured, what do you guys think?

Shading is just going over it with a fuzzy brush randomly. Not a single fuck was given that day about lihgting direction nor anything else lihgitng related. The colours make my eyes burn and are pretty off, too if I can remember correctly. The pose and angle just barely smells of a trace.
Overall perspective is off and so seem to be material definition. Everything looks like it's some powdered clay or some shit. It's partially half-assed and undetailed, like the far wing. 3d thinking required to make this was absent during the process.
Look up some tutorials about basic drawing and stay away from digipainting until [del]youre[/del] we think you're confindent enough.

I appreciate the feedback, and with many points you are right, however this was my own take on it and not ment to be 'the' same dragon from the movie itself and i didn't use a screenshot or anything to trace the pose from, i tried drawing the pose from the ideas i had in my mind.
This was my first try on coloring and shading a drawing, but it apparently failed.
Dont get me wrong, I didnt made this with the thought of oh lulz im gonna make a quick half arsed drawing and post it, i actually put some effort in it and spend a few hours on it.
anyway as i said before i appreciate the things you pointed out i did wrong and i will look up some tutorials and think of those points the next time i try making a digital drawing.
Something else im working on a new digital drawing and i wanna hear facepunch's thoughts on it before i fuck up,

Tetsuo from Akira right, it's good to see some art from old shows, although this piece in particular could use some work (mainly the size of the head and nose/mouth's position)

That's a lot better on the face but the ears look quite thick and blobby because of the round shading on the edges. Try to have some geometry on their bases where they connect to the head and shade them to become thinner around the edges, not the other way around.
And the eyes are rather flat at the moment, add some softer shading to make them look round. And sharp highlight. It looks like you're using the same brush setting for the whole thing too.
had to make javascript website
spent very little time on it, as you can tell
