The machine lacks true shading and is devoid of any core shadows and highlights. It only has cast shadows. It is however drawn with a cartoon style in mind so I will give you the benefit of the doubt. The lines are very sketchy. Fix them up, scan it, and vector it and it will look super sweet.
[img_thumb]http://th02.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2010/308/c/7/colossus_by_f1101011-d31koed.jpg[/img_thumb]
His left arm is bending in an 'arm-breaking' sort of way. It's kind of like rubber. The foreshortening looks good but the atmospheric perspective doesn't work because everything is so thick. The lines are thick as hell so the outline isn't appropriate. Also it's a doodle so you're forgiven.

I made it to test making faux lighting/bloom in Flash and to see how beveling would work for light on farther away objects.
So onox can critique it.
The blur in the background is a good idea but the sun would be even blurrier to compensate for the distance. Not super blurry but you know. The profiles of the humans are basic enough to know what they are but so much that you can notice problems in the silhouettes. Examples: Under the brown guys butt and their feet. The lighting is wrong. If they are sitting in a profile view and the sun was completely behind them, they would be a silhouette because the sun is just coming up. Also, you wouldn't see that glow on their body, it would be a rim light.

He's not a troll, he's telling his opinion. Which in my view is also true. And normally people don't post updates of their work after they fix one line. It gets annoying even with good art.

Its bloomy. In a good way and in a bad way. The shading is really inconsistant. the broken left arm's index dinger has the shading the whole image should have. Everything is just lacking values and you have problems decpicing shit in deep space, for example it's right leg.
Proportion is off on that horse. Looks like it's standing on a vertical hill.
Overall thanks to shading you fucked up some depth perception, like hand on that rock and such.
Lots of mistakes everywhere but the overall image is nice. Nothing too major to have you focus on.

You're at your mechanical stuff again. You have improved but that drill looks incredebly shit and un-drilly. It's absulutely useless. The shoulder plate on left arm is paper-thin. You need to drop the pen and do some pencil shading to practise getting different values. At first don't use crosshatching nor hatching and do some light studies and follow a few tutorials.

Wait what? You were drawing seriously? I was pretty sure you made some funny minecraft faces, not actually trying to draw them.
You do know that minecraft is made up of squares? Perfect blocky squares. Hold in SHIFT when drawing then you get a straight line, even with the pen tool.
Also any tool in MSpaint has horrible antialiasing, that's because MSpaint doesn't SUPPORT antialiasing, only the Windows 7 version does, and it looks like shit.
am I the only one who likes antialiased mspaint?
i like aliased paint but only for its comedic value
am I the only one who likes antialiased mspaint?
I think so. I don't really see the point in it, there are tons of drawing programs out there, and MSpaint is MSpaint, why should it become like them when the charm has always been that it is simple and aliased? Creates for good restrictions for those who love a challenge, makes it ideal for pixel art if you are bad at constraining yourself from all the "kewl effects" and is as Rusty said, excellent for comedic value.

Try not giving the sun a black outline, then give it a radial colour gradient, blur if needed. Then on a layer above everything else add a large radial gradient that fades to 0% alpha from a yellow/white colour. Centre this above the sun, resize so that it looks right. This I find gives a better bloom effect and gives a feeling of brightness. For example:

See how the gradients all add together giving a 'too bright to look at' bloom. Just remember in flash the built in functions are not always the best, but messing around with what you can produce with them is the best way to learn.
[editline]7th November 2010[/editline]
Also shadows are key for the effect of bloom/lighting. Add them to the pole and people and it'll look much better. Good work so far!

Double toast :/
[editline]7th November 2010[/editline]
Also!
Does anyone want me to write a Flash tutorial? You know about the basics and some of the secrets of the trade? Because I'm kinda interested in doing one.

FFS double toast again D:

That's actually a year old, I've done more pencil stuff since then. I'll scan them when I get the chance.

That's amazing.
Really, that is extremely amazing.
I wish I could draw well... These are all so awesome (except for Linux's I don't like his). Heh
A little doodle-ish thing.

Work in progress self portrait. Didn't have much time to get this done so I traced the line art, posting it here cause it's a trace :<
. Shading is done off reference though.
looks like it's gonna turn out really nice when it's detailed. i like the colours you picked.

I quite like it as it is right now actually. I'll have to see the finished product to fully make up my mind, but I love your progress so far.
I love this thread.
