My grandpa on my mother's side cheated on his wife and had a kid that no one ever met. He and my grandmother still ended up staying together, though. It was just a "flashy fling."
My grandparents on my father's side are strange and the entire family in general would make for a good TV sitcom. ._.

(couldn't find a bigger pic)
Yep all your grandpas were all a bunch tough, ugly, ugly, sons of bitches.
Maybe I should go ask my grandpa what he did. But he's way out in another state so I can't visit though.
Mine fought in Korea and got his skull bashed in. He still has a severe indentation in his skull where it happened. His buddies got the guy who did it to'em though.
My great, great, great grandfather was the last hangman in the north of England.
I feel weird because majority of you are writing about your grand dads fighting nazis or communists, and my grandfather was fighting in russia and france, he lost his eye during one of the fights
as a Wehrmacht soldier defending his base from french guerrilla
Sadly, he died when I was eight or nine, so eh

I wouldn't feel bad, my other grandfather who I didn't mention was a career criminal who drove his own daughter to alcoholism and thusly to a liver-failure related death.

bet people are jealous at how well adjusted I am.
I don't feel bad for his past, I feel bad for the fact that I didn't have any chance to talk to him and about his interesting story
also his medal for serving as Wehrmacht soldier is still somewhere underground near his house. I really wanted to have it as something from my granddad.
but the fact that he threw it into cesspit doesn't help
my grandpa grows pot
One of my great grandfathers was in the Nazi army and another one was in the Red Army. None of them died in the war.
True story.
All granddads are awesome.
My granddad had sex with my grandma.
My great grandfather was a forced soldier in WWI since our country was under Austria's control back then. He was imprisoned pretty quick and spent the rest of the war in jail. Also he had three wives, only his last outlived him (sadly not by much though). His hand was always shaking because he drank wine a lot and because of that he always poured a lot of wine into my dads glass (''No no, I don't want to get drunk'' ''Oh I'll pour just a little bit!'' *fills to the brim*). He died in 2006, it was the first funeral I went to. I really liked visiting him :buddy:
My grandfather on my fathers side died when I was too young to remember him (lung cancer although when I was little I though it was because I kicked him in the face once when he was tickling me :v:)
My grandfather on my mothers side is still alive, he's the only other machinist in my family so it's cool to have at least one person who I can talk to about that stuff.
Although I heard some stories about my great grandpas, I only remember one now:
A Jew had stolen a chicken from my relative, so he got pissed. He found some pork fat meat and rubbed it into that Jew's mouth.
Both of my grandfathers live and they are awesome, but I don't know if they did something badass.
www.nobrain.dk is cool too.
My both grandpas died in 2007 one month span between them.
My Grandpa burned down an officer bar in Shang Hai before he had to serve time in military prison
He was badass :smug:
On my mother side my great grandad was fighting for Finland against the Soviets, he kept telling us how he looted rings, money etcetera. from the Russians they killed so they later could spend it all on alcohol.

FYI: This was during Korea war, though hes brother and hes dad fought in WW2
My other grandfather is a math wiz. He does calculus in his head on a daily basis.
My Grandad on my Dad's side was a medic in WW2, he carried someone on a stretcher made of broken rifles and wood for 20 miles apparently. We've got his medals now, and we're keeping them in good condition. They're awesome
My grandpa wrote the instruction manuals for nuclear weapons at Raytheon and my grandmother worked at the assembly line, and that's how they met.
Basically my grandpa knew how the nukes worked and my grandma built them.
Reason for this thread: To remind you guys not to take your grandparents for granted. They all have a story, ask them about it. You don't know how long you have them for.
I wish I had met my grandparents, they all died before I was born. Plus, my grandmother and grandfather from my father's side both died with Alzheimers. And my Mother never met her Father.
I think one of my grandfather's cousins helped Finland in WWII against Soviet.
My grandad joined the Army at the age of 16 lying about his age. He travelled all around Asia including China where he got massive tattoos on his chest and back some of which weren't finished because he was moved to another location.
He worked with Ghurkas, and always stood by his word that they are most courageous and brave people he had ever met.
During the WW2 he was in Northern African (his brother died there, his grave and gravestone are there) where he was captured by Italians and marched to Poland and put in a POW camp.
okay so apparently my Criminal grandad may have, and I accentuate the MAY, given someone brain damage/ comatosed them.

But it's unclear at this point in time, considering how he's 'never committed a crime in his life'
My grandpa fought in the Finnish Winterwar against the Soviets, got hit by a shrapnel and later turned into a communist :D And then he did some stupid stuff, tried to sneak into a military base and sabotage shit.
Died a few years ago and never was much of an grandfather.
My Grandfather on my dad's side did national service for a while and was involved in the suez crisis. His dad though, served in WWII as a mlitary policeman or something like that. He stormed Normandy and liberated Bergen Belsen, where he and some other chaps let the inmates murder a bunch of the guards. He was also a policeman before the war and once again after it.
My Great Grandfather on my father's mother's side joined up to fight in WWI in 1917, when he was 15.
Other Grandfather also did National service, but I don't think he was deployed anywhere.
Well my grandpa was born in Finland (He moved to Sweden in the 50's). He wasn't personally involved in the Finnish Winter War but two of his brothers (If i remember correctly, might've been cousins) fought for Finland and were killed in action.
When he lived in Finland he did tough forest work and he told me about the winter when it would be -40 C and other crazy shit. When he moved to Sweden he got a job in the shipyard in Malmö (where I live) and he's actually been welding shit on Submarines that the Swedish Navy use today. I think he's been part of constructing this submarine for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Gotland_(Gtd)
One of my grandfathers was an alcoholic, french-quebecois steel worker who had to build his town from scratch when they got off the boat. The other was a Hungarian ex-tank commander turned refugee, turned auto worker once he got to Canada.
One of my great-grandmothers was also allegedly a prostitute. Or at least that's what my aunts tell me. But she was only doing it to put food on the table because my great grandfather had died.

I like having a simple life.
my grandad died last month, he served in both the coal mines and the home guard in world war two. he saved a families life who were living in the farm from a v2 rocket attack. after this he became a toolmaker and worked his way up the ranks until he retired as head foreman.
he was also the epitome of class:

RIP
you guys have such awesome granddads
my grandpa kept hiding because he was an illegal immigrant
All I know is that some of my grand-uncles and relatives fought as guerrilla fighters against Japan during World War II. Also my grandmother was hit on by a Japanese officer.
[editline]29th October 2010[/editline]
And my grandfather helped poor patients for free in his medical office.
