*looks around, furtively* ...I really, really like the Saiga. I've only ever played with it in Battlefield 2, but I like the look of it. The hunting rifle version (no pistol grip, but one of those stock grips) really gels with me, for some reason.
It's the only civilian-available semi-automatic shotgun with a detachable magazine. They go for about $650 around here. And hot damn, they're moddable out the ass. Yes, those are dual muzzle brakes you see on them. Unfortunately, the mags that hold anything beyond 12 rounds are unwieldy, so you need to get drum mags after that point. And my state has banned drum mags. :frown:
Hee. I mean, I've always been slightly tempted to join a target-shooting club. Not sure whether I'd want to get started with a shotgun, though. Maybe an air-rifle? I'll have to look round for local clubs, I guess. I don't think I could get a semi-automatic magazine-fed shotgun, though; just a hunch. I do like the look of over-and-unders, however.

Unless you have magazine restrictions for when you manage to acquire a firearm over in the UK, I'd recommend a Mossberg 500 or 590. Or a Remington 870.

Or a Remington 870.
Yeah, there are magazine restrictions:
Most shooters do most of their shooting in the UK with a shotgun. The law defines this as a smooth-bored gun with barrels of not less than 24”. If the gun is a semi-automatic or pump-action, the magazine must be restricted to hold no more than two shells, with a third in the chamber. This is quite confusing these days because some modern wildfowling magnums are chambered for 3 ½” shells. This makes it possible to load more than the legal maximum number of shells into the gun if you use 65mm cases. Readers are strongly advised not to do so because the police may construe your shotgun as a ‘de facto’ Section 1 firearm if it is used in this way.
(source) Anyway, as I said, If I do go anywhere with this I'll start with air rifles. Usually, shotguns over here are the preserve of sportsmen or landed gentry (pheasant shooting, don'tchaknow. Cor, Humphrey just got a blighter of a bird, did you see that smacker? etc.)
goddamn, the south is ready for a zombie invasion
http://www.firequest.com/MC821.html £8 odd for a Machete? In black? Ok, anyone want to set up an arrangement here?
Yeah, there are magazine restrictions: (source) Anyway, as I said, If I do go anywhere with this I'll start with air rifles.
That's... unfortunate. Well, most pump-action shotguns can be plugged with a specially made wooden stop to prevent more than a certain number of rounds from being loaded. That may or may not work, but I don't know the laws of the land, so I won't push you on the matter.
I mean, I imagine most people will be sensible enough to pick a home-defense weapon that meets the needs adequately without overkill. But then you will get the person who wants the biggest, most powerful weapon on the market; a combination between the kind of person who has an obsession with things that go "bang" and the kind of person who must buy the fastest sports car available. Hilarity ensues.
Shotguns are generally the most popular weapon for home defense in the US. I'm not such a big fan of Saiga's myself (reloading them and relying on magazines doesn't get me very excited) I picked a tacticool Mossberg 500 for the ol protection of the house. The Flamedragon is probably useless for Home defense but looks like a shitload of fun to fire!
The Flamedragon is probably useless for Home defense but looks like a shitload of fun to fire!
It's completely useless for home defense. It even states on the package that you shouldn't use it indoors.

Maybe. I don't really want to try and bend the laws when it comes to firearms. I don't really want to be shot by an ART if I can help it.
i am scared now even though i don't even live anywhere near america
i am scared now even though i don't even live anywhere near america
Why? There's only been 4 total homicides on the North American continent with a .50BMG round, and all those other rounds on the site (except for the devastators) are really only good for shits and giggles at an outdoor range.
Home of the mall ninja.
http://www.firequest.com/FJ737.html Can't stop wondering why this is in the "survival needs"-category
I fail to understand why a tube with a trigger mechanism costs $450. Sure, heavy duty shit, but not that much.
I was actually going to buy some confetti shotgun shells for my pump tactical for shits and giggles. Then Three rounds for like 10 bux, wasn't a big deal to me till i added it to the cart and saw the shipping fee. 11 fucking dollars. I was also going to get some dragon's breath shells but I didn't bother with the stupid shipping rates.

And that's actually fairly cheap shipping for hazardous material classed objects.

Why do you need 50 Caliber Incendiary rounds and why the fucking hell would you need rounds that are banned by the Geneva convention? Honestly how far are you going to try and bend the 2nd amendment.
Why do you need 50 Caliber Incendiary rounds and why the fucking hell would you need rounds that are banned by the Geneva convention? Honestly how far are you going to try and bend the 2nd amendment.
Who cares why we *need* it? The 2nd Amendment doesn't provide for need. It just says we can do it. I see that as putting the 2nd Amendment to good use, not bending it. And the Geneva convention applies only to militaries.
Who cares why we *need* it? The 2nd Amendment doesn't provide for need. It just says we can do it. And the Geneva convention applies only to militaries.
It is incomprehensibly stupid how there is such fervor for sticking to an outdated (and meant to be replaced) law which says "A well organized militia". There is no reason why you need flechete rounds or 50 caliber incendiary rounds. Is someone going to assault you from 500 yards away?
It is incomprehensibly stupid how there is such fervor for sticking to an outdated (and meant to be replaced) law which says "A well organized militia". There is no reason why you need flechete rounds or 50 caliber incendiary rounds. Is someone going to assault you from 500 yards away?
You know what? No, they aren't. The vast majority of ammunition on this website is not intended to be useful. It's intended to be used at an outdoor range, just for fun. The 2nd Amendment wasn't instated for the purpose of self-protection, though. Nor is it there for hunters, firearms collectors, or people who just love shooting. It's intended to be that one thing the people need to overthrow the government, should it come to it. And don't tell me that it can't be done. There are, at the very lowest estimates, 93 million gun owners in America. On average, each of those owns 3 firearms. We are more heavily armed than the world's 14 largest militaries combined, including our own.
And don't tell me that it can't be done. There are, at the very lowest estimates, 93 million gun owners in America. On average, each of those owns 3 firearms.
There isn't a chance in hell that could work.
Oh, and the members of our military don't pledge their allegiance to our government. They pledge their allegiance to the defense of this nation and its laws. You'd see an unbelievable defection rate, should an uprising occur.
"A well organized militia".
The law is meant for individuals, as stated by the supreme court. It's not outdated by any means, and .50 BMG rounds have no practical application in crime and are thus harmless to the general public. You're just a victim of fear mongering bullshit and have the misconception that big = bad. [editline]30th October 2010[/editline]
Why do you need 50 Caliber Incendiary rounds and why the fucking hell would you need rounds that are banned by the Geneva convention?
They aren't banned, they're commonly used by armed forces world wide. The M2 browning machine gun, chambered in .50BMG, has been used since a few years after WWI by dozens of countries. Snipers are trained in the use of .50BMG bolt action rifles. It's a popular hunting round for large game at long ranges.
Please please please please don't argue the second amendment here. We really don't need another 20-page thread of shit-flinging
Their T-Shirts are awesome. [img_thumb]http://www.firequest.com/media/products/SG122L.jpg[/img_thumb]
fuck why did I find out about this only 1 day before halloween
Hey, Mr Butthurt Carbon Knight, it's fun, that's why.
It is incomprehensibly stupid how there is such fervor for sticking to an outdated (and meant to be replaced) law which says "A well organized militia". There is no reason why you need flechete rounds or 50 caliber incendiary rounds. Is someone going to assault you from 500 yards away?
Some people just like to shoot their firearms, nothing wrong with that. It's like saying "why do people play golf? They're not going to be in the PGA tour EVER" Call the Law outdated and stupid, but it is there. It was never made for people to be free so they can shoot guns for shits and giggles. It just gives people the power to fight against the government, its more or less a safe guard. Guns can still be banned from certain states and such all depends on local government and federal government. You're right, there is no practical reason for 50 cal incendiary rounds (For civilians at least). But it doesn't mean people can't buy them and shoot them at a range for fun. In all honest, hunting and gun related sports have less injuries and fatalities then any other sport. Hell cheerleading has more reported and document injuries then hunting and gun sports. Let people buy them and have fun, they're not going to effect you. If you don't like it ignore it, but people are not going to stop having fun because you think it is stupid.
