X, your avatar fits way too hilariously with your post.
the idea is no in and out penetration, not to be more lethal. it goes in and never comes out, preventing you from accidentally shooting your kid or pet behind the intruder.
Regular hollow points already do that :colbert: [editline]30th October 2010[/editline]
[img_thumb]http://www.firequest.com/media/products/DV45.jpg[/img_thumb] These rounds are loaded with explosives to maximize mushrooming in hollowpoints. They're also banned in like 20 states according to the page. Who the fuck would want to pay $13 for a box of 6 exploding hollowpoints? :geno:
Make those a little cheaper and I'll buy some for the upcoming zombie invasion.
You people realize the vast majority of this ammunition is worthless, ineffective novelty crap that's sold to people who don't know what they're doing?
ahh canada ahh [editline]31st October 2010[/editline] i want exploding shotgun shellssssss
fyi the Geneva convention doesn't ban weapons, the Hague convention does. Not that anyone follows them anyways.
You know your country has fucked up gun-laws when something like this is possible.
This is the biggest mistake gun-control advocates always make. "What? That gun sounds scary! Why isn't it illegal?!" In reality, murders are committed with innocuous weapons loaded with completely standard ammunition. "Assault weapons" (read: scary black weapons with bayonet lugs) are used in less than 1% of crime, yet are the most often targeted group of guns for legislation.
It is incomprehensibly stupid how there is such fervor for sticking to an outdated (and meant to be replaced) law which says "A well organized militia". There is no reason why you need flechete rounds or 50 caliber incendiary rounds. Is someone going to assault you from 500 yards away?
Flechette rounds are extremely ineffective. If they manage to penetrate they'll zip straight through you doing hardly any harm at all. If you went to a hospital they'd just give you a shot, a few bandaids and send you home. The scariest rounds of all can be bought at walmart, in the hunting section. Conventional ammunition is by far the most destructive. The only round out there that's un-conventional and seems terrifying is the strung buck. I have no idea what it'd actually do, but the concept is frightening. I'd never use it personally because I feel that it wouldn't really be serving the purpose I have my guns for. They're not to murder someone, they're to effectively stop someone from threatening my life or others lives'. I don't have any sort of reservation against using my guns if I ever need to. I just hope the individual on the receiving end doesn't die as a result, and gets a chance to be tried by a jury for his crime instead of myself becoming the judge jury and executioner. I don't want to live the rest of my life knowing I killed another human, that thought alone is terrifying to me and why I avoid conflict as best as I can when I'm carrying a weapon.
Don't the tails on those things tear the shit out of your tissue? and having them go THROUGH you will cause damage, no? more than just a simple band-aid.
Compared to being blown apart by regular ol buckshot? Heck its less lethal when you think about it.
Don't the tails on those things tear the shit out of your tissue? and having them go THROUGH you will cause damage, no? more than just a simple band-aid.
Not really, they just move the tissue out of the way.
Don't the tails on those things tear the shit out of your tissue? and having them go THROUGH you will cause damage, no? more than just a simple band-aid.
To put it shortly, there was extensive research, development, and field testing with flechette rounds during the Vietnam war. They weren't adopted after all of that money was put into them. They're useless for anything short of dropping out of aircraft.

He's going to sue your ass for all you've got. If someone makes the mistake of breaking into my home, and if they don't surrender or retreat upon my very first warning, I'm going to unload at least three rounds into them. When the police ask why, I'll just say I panicked. I very much hope it doesn't come to that, but if it's me or them, it sure as hell won't be me.
I can't own a firearm for another 5 years because I was a patient in a mental hospital :sigh:
I can't own a firearm for another 5 years because I was a patient in a mental hospital :sigh:
If I remember correctly, it only makes you inelligible if you were there for more than 30 days. But that may vary from state to state. Look into it. Also, you may be able to get a doctor's note that states you're mentally healthy enough to own one.
You know your country has fucked up gun-laws when something like this is possible.
Expound upon your post please. Why do we know that? It seems while some of this stuff is overkill, why is overkill bad? Freedom ftw.
Expound upon your post please. Why do we know that? It seems while some of this stuff is overkill, why is overkill bad? Freedom ftw.
None of this stuff is overkill, it's all horribly ineffective and sold to people who THINK it's overkill.
Oh, hey, maybe they have 9x18 rounds for my Makarov! [editline]31st October 2010[/editline] Nope. :smith:
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemListing.aspx?catid=738 Cheapest you'll find it.
I know :smith: It's such a beautiful gun, its a shame the Makarov 9x18 is becoming extinct.
I know :smith: It's such a beautiful gun, its a shame the Makarov 9x18 is becoming extinct.
Well, if you're not interested in Brown or Silver Bear, the lowest you'll get is $19 per box of 50 rounds before shipping.
Want to start a party? PARTY HARD WITH BEANBAG ROUNDS AND CONFETTI BULLETS FUCK YEAH
http://www.firequest.com/G12-027.html These seem kind of dangerous.
http://www.firequest.com/G12-027.html These seem kind of dangerous.

This rapid expansion forces the dozen of tiny pellets to spread through your objective like a cancerous disease, opening an area at the impact point equal to a softball.

Regular hollow points already do that :colbert:
but hollow points don't work against soft armor, which is very easy to obtain (I have 2 ballistic vests and 5 trauma plates, all owned legally)
Bothers me that the .50 Cal Armor Penetrating Incendiaries are restricted in Brooklyn, NY. I mean I understand that Brooklyn and the Bronx aren't exactly places where you can trust people with weapons, but who the fuck would own a weapon here that could fire a .50 Cal bullet?

Desert Eagles, lots of high-end sniper and marksmen's rifles, all sorts of things
They're really not optimal, considering how most crimes are committed. Even if you're trying to take someone down without getting close, a .308 would work just as well in most environments. Hell, it would work better; it's cheaper, not as loud, recoils less, and the casing isn't easy to trace if found.
.50 caliber rounds aren't all that uncommon, really. Desert Eagles, lots of high-end sniper and marksmen's rifles, all sorts of things
That's .50 A/E, .500S&W Magnum, etc. This is a .50 BMG bullet. It's a whole different monster.
That's .50 A/E, .500S&W Magnum, etc. This is a .50 BMG bullet. It's a whole different monster.
It's completely useless in the average American environment, though. You forgot .50 Beowulf, by the way.
