I can understand how copy & pasting articles causes the writer to lose control over their content. It's just so easy on the internet, though (just like piracy, but even easier). At some point, it becomes a matter of information control. Which text you can & can't transmit. Which is fucking psycho The layperson is now responsible for avoiding plagiarism in regular communications in the same way that a publisher is for publications. It doesn't work & needs to be changed.
