thanks. enjoy the marines. we worked heavily with them over there and I have nothing but respect for them. most of the time the marines were our air support. nothing like having Huey and Cobra follow you around keeping the bad guys afraid to peek out.

From what I recall, you're not supposed to stop for an IED because they were planting them in ways that would cause all the vehicles to stop and then trigger a secondary explosion while the vehicles were stationary.

that all depends what part of the country you were in and the groups that are putting them in. we were in more open areas and could see for several hundred (sometimes thousands) meters in every direction. most of the time these IEDs were set off by some kind of trigger that was initiated by us. i.e. switch we would unwittingly drive over etc.
I heard they also used AT nades. I guess AT nades are worse. There was one on youtube, damn, it hit the humvee with a direct hit.

I might be overestimating the insurgents and shit but it isn't that hard to wire two IEDs together and make one have a delayed trigger is it?

lol thats a fair question. yea we played the "would you fuck so and so?" game a lot. but then again we were a bunch of grunts, its to be expected. i would say that about 95% of the time we were there (we were there 2 years.. long time btw) we were bored out of our mind.

Dunno about any Delay trigger but all a trigger needs is two pieces of wood, couple pieces of metal, and there you have it, a Pressure trigger for detonating IED's
Those insurgents make some elaborate things out of nothing
