Dunno about any Delay trigger but all a trigger needs is two pieces of wood, couple pieces of metal, and there you have it, a Pressure trigger for detonating IED's Those insurgents make some elaborate things out of nothing
you can use something as simple as a washing machine timer or egg timer to put a delayed trigger on an IED too. we saw a lot of the washing machine timers. most of the time they had bad contacts so they didn't detonate
Look at the right side of the road when the bomb goes off, you see the shrapnel hit the dirt.
Can you post the other videos aswell?

Holy fucking shit! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT THING!
Holy fucking shit! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT THING!
yea. and all the ones i was close were tiny compared to that and they scared me. stuff like that terrified me. still does to be honest.
Damn that looked intense.
Holy fucking shit! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT THING!
That video was confirmed to be fake.
OP's avatar. I know it's a ninja, but still... :irony:
OP's avatar. I know it's a ninja, but still... :irony:
its me wearing this we were required to wear these things in iraq when we are in the turret. its flame retardant. biggest threat, believe it or not, is not from IEDs its from starting on fire after the IED. the insurgents like to mix in rocket fuel with the IEDs. makes a huge fireball when they go up. if they are crafty enough they will have the rocketfuel mix w/ diesel so it starts the vehicle on fire. that sucks. nothing like being under fire and trying to get as much shit out of the truck. you don't want to lose equipment to fire over there. it can be 6 months to a year before you get replacement parts sometimes. some things just never got replaced.
Why the fuck would they put those there do they even care if they hit another vehicle other than ours? Iraq failed :Dawkins102:
do they even care if they hit another vehicle other than ours? Iran failed :Dawkins102:
answer: no. they don't care. in fact they assassinate each other all the time. when i was there we probably found about 2 or 3 dozen people hung from bridges, shot dead in the street, etc. and these were not just nobodies either. these were elected officials of different tribes. similar to a city council member.
Cool video, thanks for your service. :patriot:
Wow, bad timing was bad. You guys should have just sped through that though, you're lucky there wasn't an ambush after that.
Yeah OP you should listen to this guy he is more experienced and knows more about this stuff than you
So Iraq is pretty much just a deathmatch.
With NATO and Coalition forces thrown in for additional spice.

Bender, I've bet you seen some porpane tanks IED right? Also? What interesting IEDs do you see?
Holy crap! Stuff like this just makes me respect you people fighting out there so much more. The armed services are doing a tough job and are under equipped.
Holy crap! Stuff like this just makes me respect you people fighting out there so much more. The armed services are doing a tough job and are under equipped.
The dumb insurgents buried it too deep
still though, wouldn't want to be on top of that. I'm sure the shock-wave would kill you inside the tank. Although i have no idea what I'm talking about, so don't quote me on that.
Bender, I've bet you seen some porpane tanks IED right? Also? What interesting IEDs do you see?
Haha, why you wanna know? Anyway, thanks for your service!
Bender, I've bet you seen some porpane tanks IED right? Also? What interesting IEDs do you see?
they try doing the propane thing sometimes. not so much once they started to figure out the rocket fuel. they kind of look like this
The dumb insurgents buried it too deep
all it would probably do is roll the truck. in the video you don't really hear a boom and you don't see much of a shockwave either so most of the energy was absorbed by the ground. rolling a truck is no picnic either. it happens a lot. mostly from people falling asleep at the wheel. my longest mission was just under 24 hours if i remember right. we had a vehicle catch on fire and we had to wait for it to go out and get it on a trailer to take it back. funny thing about that was that it happened on the main highway going into western Iraq so we had to shut it down for about 7 hours. people were pissed that they had to detour around us. little did they know that we were more pissed that we had to sit there and miss chow/shower/phone/internet/etc. yea we got in about 1:30am and had to get back up at 6am to go back out the next day. it was WONDERFUL!
that was big

Are IED's detonated remotely by some guy watching or is it on a timer?
