It makes me wonder even though the video is a fake why developers downgrade and blatantly lie anyway.
So they can run the game on the consoles without hiccups. And then they never bother to release a proper pc version and just port it from the consoles with small diferences. Damn I need a PS4... MGSV and now Bloodborne... Could be a PC for MGS buuut...
Literally got so pissed. Until I saw the video......
Wow. I mean, just, wow... I've never been much of a Souls fan like most of my friends, but one thing I've heard about Dark Souls 2 is how bad the graphics were in comparison to the Alpha/Beta. At first I thought they were bluffing, like "Pfft, that's silly. How bad could it be?" Then I come across this video, and my jaw crashes through the floor. Especially at 0:20, 2:00 and 2:52. Pitiful.
The actual game looks not nearly as bad overall and with a few mods/tweaks plus seeing it run at a smooth 60FPS the game looks great. That area in the video was a big downgrade and IMO is one of the worst looking areas in the game, but overall it still looked really good; much better than Dark Souls 1. And the art style is what really makes these games too, so that helped. I.E.: [t]http://i.imgur.com/RYqgYc4.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/fJy1CPD.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/unGKck8.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/M79YQB4.jpg[/t] That's the PC version running with what is basically just sweetFX (later I turned off the DoF because it was a bit distracting).

Even with all the mods, the amazing lighting is still taken out of the whole game. They even kept using the old screenshots with the lighting to advertise the game, which is called false advertising.
The lighting mod literally just adds filters though? It makes the image pop and things a bit darker but its otherwise exactly the same. Most of the areas in the game really don't look bad at all. I honestly can't take anyone seriously who has played through all of DS2 and yet still says DS2 is an objectively *bad* looking game. Sure its not "super pretty shadow effects" from the alpha footage but it looks pretty good anyways. Thats what kind of irritated me about all those videos on launch popping up because they cherry picked the worst looking areas in the game (that happened to be the preview areas unfortunately) to go "LOOK HOW BAD IT LOOKS!". When most of the game didn't really look like that, and the game honestly doesn't look bad at all. Especially when you consider the fact that it animates beautifully.
Hey - bit off topic here, but does anyone have any clue what song is used in this video? I seriously want this song.
darude sandstorm (User was banned for this post ("dumb meme reply" - Orkel))
Hey - bit off topic here, but does anyone have any clue what song is used in this video? I seriously want this song.
Which video? The one in the OP or the one in the Dark Souls 2 alpha vs release comparison thing?

But they couldn't at least somewhat get these graphics on the PC version somehow? Hell, even if you couldn't get these graphics at all, why would you market it like this? Maybe it's something I'm not seeing here, but it confuses me that companies do this in the first place. I know it's to generate hype and sales, but all that's going to do in the end is garner disappointment from fans and critics alike once they see the final product. I know these companies would have already gained their profit from sales by this point, but what happens the next time they make a game? Fans are going to be distrustful of the companies for their treatment of their previous product, forcing the companies to work even harder to gain the trust of the fans who were disappointed with the previous product back. Again, I might not be getting the big picture. If there's something I'm missing here I'd be more than glad to have been shown where I'm wrong in this. Even I don't think I'm all that right on this, which is why I need clarification.
it's pretty much what I've been seeing with games, ESPECIALLY assassins creed the game looks amazing and they block reviews until release, and they're trying to make the games as pretty as possible, but the games end up optimized very horribly. Especially the fact that backstabs caused by internet hiccups don't mean the battle is instantly lost
This is a PS4 game, WHOA...
It says a lot about the state of gaming that it took me until halfway through the video to realize this was a joke.

it's sad that devs will downgrade the PC version just because they have to on the console version
can confirm bloodborne graphics as good as nightmare creatures
Ooh Nightmare Creatures, I had almost forgotten about that game. I remember it having some pretty nice fluid combat for the time, on top of being pants-shittingly terrifying.
I remember seeing that game when I was too young. :v:
