Sorry but you really are not listening, and that meens that i can't prove my point to you.
You are not paying attention to my posts.
Well, I like to try before I buy.
If something sucks I don't buy anything, and the devs don't deserve my money.
Bought Master Collection CS3, and a whole bunch of games.
If only everybody did the same only bad companies (No pun) would be threatened with bankruptcy, the good ones'd get more of the consumers money.

Yeah, except there is a method of trying a game. I'ts called demos.

That is not a rebuttal.
Do you have a way to refute the fact that theft is defined as taking something without the consent of the proprietor, and that the EULA (legally binding contract) that you agree to by accessing a piece of software applies and forbids you from using that software without paying for it, so that even disregarding the criminal charge of software piracy you have still breached a legally binding contract that entitles the company to reparations?
Yeah, except there is a method of trying a game. I'ts called demos.
And if the developer doesn't release a demo it means they, within their rights as the proprietors of the software, do not want a "try-before-buy" setup established for their product and does not excuse piracy.
Piracy only matters when the gaming publisher (or developer) behind the game decides to fuck the consumer over by including DRM (which pirates can bypass.) or do something that impacts the PC gaming community. Nerd waaaaaaaaaah.
its okay for me to pirate and play this game because i dont like it!
disregard the fact that this notion is completely contradictory!

These gaming companies should actually wake up and start to treat the consumers with more respect and not fuck them over with DRM.
Same goes for movies. You want to watch a perfectly legal movie you shelled out for $15 - $30 and you cannot skip the ads, the FBI warning and loads more that grinds a lot of consumers' gears. Besides, if you see the movie once, you don't want to watch it again (of course, it depends on the movie.)
And why are there DRMs and FBI warnings?
And why are there DRMs and FBI warnings?
Because they understandably want to protect their intellectual property.
And why are there DRMs and FBI warnings?
To screw the people who actually pay for games in the ass.

I am now

NO! To prevent pirating.
NO! To prevent pirating.
Who are you kidding?
All the DRM did was encourage pirating.
Who are you kidding?

No, the desire to have that which we don't have causes piracy.
No, the desire to have that which we don't have causes piracy.
That's just another contributing factor, not that alone.
Who are you kidding?

Steam doesn't. Steam is DRM. Faulty implementation of rights management systems does not imply a company should not be protecting their intellectual property.
NO! To prevent pirating.
DRM has increased pirating from all I've seen.
Steam doesn't.
Because Steam doesn't require users to be online 24/7 when playing games.
That's just another contributing factor, not that alone.
Good point, but if you stop pirating, will there be a reason for DRM?
Because Steam doesn't require users to be online 24/7 when playing games.
It does however make the user jump through a ridiculous amount of hoops to play games offline, and had been worse in the past.
And yet it is a completely effective system of rights management.
And if the developer doesn't release a demo it means they, within their rights as the proprietors of the software, do not want a "try-before-buy" setup established for their product and does not excuse piracy.
What side are you on?
I don't really get this sentence.
Good point, but if you stop pirating, will there be a reason for DRM?
Yes.
Protecting the rights of a creative work is never a bad idea. You must simply make sure you devise an effective method of protection.
Good point, but if you stop pirating, will there be a reason for DRM?
So, because of pirates, punish the legit users with DRM? No matter how hard companies try, piracy will never cease to exist. The more they try, the more they fuck up their genuine customers.
It does however make the user jump through a ridiculous amount of hoops to play games offline, and had been worse in the past.

Not anymore.
That is not a rebuttal.

You talk well....
[sp]But what you say is full of shit[/sp]
DRM is usually only hurting the customer now.
Whoop dee doo, you have to be online to play a game that you downloaded through a content distribution system online.
Still doesn't excuse piracy. It's the developer's right to implement whatever protections they want.
Im more of a "casual pirate" then a full on pirate.
I buy games from retailers every now and again BUT If I have no money/little I download them I guess.
Expect for steam games...I would kill myself if I tried to pirate a Valve Game.

Steam.
Garrysmod.org
Yes.

Exactly. Don't fuck people over with greediness, but don't take it up the ass by pirates.
Still not a rebuttal.
Still true though.
Steam.
Garrysmod.org
You do realize you can still download cracked Steam games?
Garrysmod.org isn't a strong form of protection, I can download shit, and give it to my pirate friends. Easy as that.
I used to care, now I don't.
