Durp, people that i don't respond to i will most likely do :buddy:
Yeah, i get it now, NYC != NY.
Stay the hell away from NYC. My best words of advice is the mainland is for suckers... Visit Buffalo, and eat some real buffalo wings. Not those Hooters, or KFC grease balls. At the same time I would recommend visiting Rochester, and checking out Salmon River if your interested in fishing. If you want to catch fish I would recommend using a golden pirate rapala off the break wall.
If your not interested in either of those... Visit Albany(capitol of NY) very beautiful place, and occasionally nice people.
If I were you I would wait it out till September - October cause that's rainbow trout season, and at the same time the air cools down enough to the point where Niagara Falls makes a beautiful atmospheric look.
Fuck. Now I miss New York... :c
Nah, i wanna see the stereotypic stuff... Fishing is boring.
Ah alright.
Also...
SAHLENS HOTDOGS.
I swear, and many others will probably agree with me... Sahlens Hotdogs is the best kind of hot dog in NY, and if you don't get them well let us just say your most likely going to be attacked by a Yankees fan.
Edit:
Also, if your their during the 11th - 22nd of August visit the Erie County Fair. The birth place of the Hamburger in Hamburg, NY!
Visit the top of ground zero.
I have no clue whatsoever to do there, neither how long the flight will be (from Sweden)... We (3 people) will stay there for about 4-5 days.
What are some recommended activities and shopping places and that shit? I'm clueless FP :v:
I'm going to NY around the last week of july, until that following saturday. Will you still be there then? I might see you :V
Last week of august.
Friendly as in what?
People say excuse me and sorry here. I don't know what part of New York you visited.
So it isn't true that they say "fuck a duck" when you accidently run into them?
You can take one of those tour buses and just jump off at a stop and get lost for a day, wander around, try some of the local family owned restaurants, get mugged or even sexually assaulted. Just remember to have fun.
Talk to me, I go there every week.
Also, try to take a side trip to Washington DC. See the white house, the Smithsonian, and the Washington Monument.
DC really isn't that good, the Smithsonian was cool though.
So Jealous.
Go to MoMa, it's a art museum.
Go watch a movie in IMAX.
Go to central park.
I'm down in NYC a few times a week, so here are some things to do that I recommend.
-Go to "Cafe Wha" (on a Wednesday night or Sunday night preferably, more room and there is no entrance fee). In the evenings they have a really nice live house band and a really chill atmosphere... food isn't that great, it's just not very good bar food, but it's worth going to to get a few drinks and enjoy the music. It's down in Greenwich Village on Bleecker Street. Look up their website.
For good food...
-Buddakan in the Meat Packing District has the most delicious food I have ever tasted, and I have been to an enormous amount of bistros and other fine dining establishments. The atmosphere, the service, the food (asian/french fusion) is absolutely spectacular. Only downside is it is not that cheap, but you really shouldn't miss it (probably 40-50 dollars a person, without factoring in alcoholic drinks). My recommendation is to order a bunch of appetizers and share it between your friends, and get the lobster fried rice to fill you up on the cheaper side(it is even more delicious than it sounds).
-Mario Batali... there are numerous different restaurant projects of his down in the Village, all Italian food. I recommend trying one of them. Some can be quite cheap, others a little more on the expensive side.
-Please please please get the banana pudding at Magnolia bakery, there are two locations in the city. One is conveniently located in the lower room of Grand Central Station. It is fucking awesome pudding, I don't even really like pudding or bananas that much, but their banana pudding is just awesome.
-Just get pizza... pizzerias are easy to find and NY pizza is way different than pizza you'll find in other areas of the world. It's also cheap as hell, and really tasty.
-If you liked the Beatles at all, you should check out Strawberry Fields in Central Park. Hell you should definitely go to Central Park anyway, it's a beautiful and humongous park. Strawberry Fields is a memorial to the late John Lennon, who was assassinated only a hundred yards from the memorial. If you walk out towards the street from Strawberry Fields, you will see the steps of the apartment building where he used to live... that is where he died. Just interesting, and very sad.
-Do grab a cigar if you like to smoke, and sit by the lake in Central Park at sunset. It's a lovely experience.
-Check concerts that are playing during the time you'll be there. You can find the list here: http://www.bowerypresents.com/fullcalendar . There are often a lot of awesome bands playing.
-If you like jazz, there are a ton of great jazz clubs down in the Village.
-If you like art, do not miss the Met. Moma is kind of boring though, for me personally. I don't like modern art that much, but I love the Metropolitan Museom of Art. They have a ton of Greek sculptures and a great section of the museum is dedicated to 19th century art, with original John Singer Sargent paintings.
-Learn the subway system! It is very easy and will save you a ton of money. You can get within 4 blocks of basically anywhere in Manhattan using the subway. If you plan on using it a lot you could buy a day pass, or just get the 4 ride card for 8 bucks. You get 4 rides and you can use the same card for everyone in your group if you like. The 4, 5, and 6 line run up and down the entire length of Manhattan. Faster than a taxi and the subway cars have AC so it isn't bad.
-Have a good time man, don't try to see too many of the sites, just enjoy yourself. If you have anything in particular you like, tell me and I'll try to come up with things to do around that.
Go to the Nintendo World Store! It's awesome :buddy:. I don't know why everyone thinks New York is full of assholes, when I was there everyone was really nice..

Lol, do not skip NYC. All those cities are just regular American cities, and none of them anything special or worth visiting. I live an hour outside of the city in Westchester county, and I wouldn't recommend you visit here, unless you have an undying passion to see the NY countryside. If you do, just take the train out of Grand Central. Ha you can come visit me and I'll take you on a nice day hike, there's a beautiful reservoir nearby. Buffalo, Rochester and Albany are literally hours and hours away from NYC, and there is no train system to get there.

There are as many assholes as other cities. If you get lost or need directions just pull out a map. More often than not someone will stop and help you without you even asking for help! New Yorkers generally love giving out directions and showing their geographical expertise :P.
Go look at the sculptures some guy has been putting on top of buildings all over Madison

Haha.
Hahaha.
Renting a car in New York City, such a funny joke.

Yea, don't do that. You would have to be fucktarded to rent a car. Subway and buses can get you anywhere you want. Car is much slower, parking spots are a pain in the ass to find, and it could be broken into easily.
Nah, i wanna see the stereotypic stuff... Fishing is boring.
What. Go to Sheepshead Bay, in the Bronx. Charter boat fishing.

Definitely. That, and Metro transit is a city experience. People sometimes play music on the subways. Or sometimes beg for money.
I visit the city about once a month, and almost every time, someone comes on the subway begging for money. And almost every time they look like they're in good shape. Nice jacket, decent shoes. I could be wrong, but I'm just saying.
And occasionally, there are people playing barrels as drums, doing some other kind of performance, etc. One time a guy came on, and he had a guitar and harmonica. And sung. He was freaking amazing.
People got up from the other side of the car to give him money. And trust me, that's something.
Get mugged
Since steams 1$=1€ is bullshit, why don't i buy them in USA and save a shitload of money?
yes lets go to new york to buy peggle
I already have peggle :3:
yes lets go to new york to buy railworks dlc
You can buy DLC in stores? Oh wow. Also i don't like train simulators.
Give money to the numerous homeless men on the street so they may spend it on booze.
Manhattan resident here. go see the blue man group and take one of those speedboat things that go underwater.
see grand cental, the empire state, statue of liberty, the crystler building, harass one of those still mime people in central park, give a hobo $20 then kick him and leave, get drunk in a bar get beat up by an angry irashman, wake up with your wallet missing and a prositute in your hotel room... yeah...
Eat at Carnegie Deli. Get a knish.
Well, change of plans, we may go there later this year (it's summer...), so we'll instead go to London. Same shit there, what to do? :v:
