Fucking love zombie movies... I try to get my girlfriend to watch them with me, but the most I've ever convinced her of was Zombieland.
Night of the Living Dead (the original) still holds a special place with me. Black and white, bitches.
Planet Terror
I loved Night of the Living dead (original) and dawn of the Dead (Original & remake) but I didn't really enjoy Day of the Dead. The "remake" of it is so terrible, I can't even begin to describe how bad it is.
Damn of the dead - romero, beats the remake by a mile
Okay, that's it. I'm going to step far away from the George A. Romero masturbation fest. And I'm going to speak the truth.
George A. Romero was, and still is, a terrible film maker. Every single George Romero movie is utterly unwatchable. His critical acclaim comes only from the fact he was the first. I respect George A Romero as an avid zombie movie lover, he was a pioneer. But to be honest, his movies are horrible. Everything from Night of the Living Dead, to the original Dawn of the Dead, to his latest catastrophes such as Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, etc etc. All of these movies are atrocious.
George A. Romero was a pioneer. But he's a horrible film maker.

Goodbye two weeks of sleep.
The Crazies is a new remake of an old George A Romero classic.
Saw it recently, not technically a "zombie" film, but close enough that it belongs in the genre. Anyway, the film itself was pretty good, nothing to write home about, but easily worth a watch at the cinema. Good performances from the two leads (Timothy Olyphant of Deadwood fame, and Rahda Mitchell from Pitch Black and the Surrogates etc).
The best zombie film to date by far in my eyes is Dawn of the Dead (remake), with 28 days later being a very close second. This might piss people off, but George A Romero isn't the mastermind director everyone makes him out to be IMO. He is the grandfather of the Zombie genre, and all the credit goes to him there, but his skills as a director and writer are limited at best. Not that his films aren't fun, just saying.

The Zombie Diaries is the most fucking realistic zombie movie ever.
There was a Australian zombie film..With aliens

Undead. I enjoyed it.
Land of the Dead lost me when the zombies started ganging up and shooting people with guns.
Yeah the fact that zombies were able to use guns made what would have been a pretty awesome zombie movie into a meh zombie movie. Zombies just aren't allowed weapons.... except Bub.
Bub was the only smart zombie that was well handled.

Say what you want about George A Romero (I love the man, but his recent work is not that great), but Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead are fucking amazing. I mean, I'm not narrow minded and I love modern zombie flicks as well, but nothing has surpassed the classics.
The remake of Dawn is a great movie, but after repeated viewings, I don't think it holds up as well as the original.
Zombieland was a pretty good movie imho.
I agree though, the entire [sp]mansion scene[/sp] didn't need to be there at all.

Thank you. I would of enjoyed the movie much more if they cut out that entire scene entirely. It should of just kept going as a Zombie-Road Trip movie, with the same ending of course.
What?
Edit: I didn't quote the post I was replying to.

Gonna have to disagree to the extreme there, Chief. The movies are old, a lot of people get off to calling them great because they can praise them as classics and look like a cinema buff. But in all honestly, they are just terrible, terrible movies. George A. Romero's modern movies are of the exact same caliber and are absolutely dreadful. The difference? Age. He hasn't changed. His old movies are just as bad, but the terrible things are often disguised or disregarded due to age and continue to he hailed as classics. "Oh so what it doesn't have the best special effects? It's really old! Oh so what it has a terrible script, plot and direction! People couldn't write or direct well back then! Hurpadurpa DOO!" People watch it, and just completely disregard everything they saw because if it's reputation and age. Pioneers of the zombie genre, sure. Good movies? Absolutely not.
The George A Romero remakes are dire. They don't have those underlying morals or context, and are so glossy they make my eye burn.

Surely the lawnmower massacre at the end of Braindead surpasses that? Best fight scene in any zombie movie IMO.

Ahem.
The version of Dead Snow I have has most of the German songs, and a better one than the one in that clip.

Disagree. I've watched all of Romero's movies, all without prior knowledge of what they were beyond a zombie movie, for a long time I didn't even know who Romero was, I entered each movie with no pre-conceptions, yet I enjoyed his original few movies greatly, but heavily disliked his later films. There's just something about the original three that makes them great.

Yes, I can agree that his other films are of varying quality, but Night, Dawn, Day and Martin are great films.
Night of the Living Dead is amazing! Still scares me!
The Crazies was somewhat a zombie movie. I mean the zombies were self-aware, but it was a Romero movie.
28 Days Later and Quarantine were my favorites. REC was slightly less enjoyable and interesting than Quarantine in my opinion. Haven't seen REC 2, but hope to soon.
Dead Set is worth your money.
Yes. One of the best zombie, well, things I've ever seen.

Did you notice Shaun and Ed there as cameo zombies?
I just saw the movie Dead Air. It was a terrible movie. I thought a majority of the film would take place on a plane but it didn't...
You mean the radio show one? There's another one called Dead Air too, which is on a plane. But they're both kinda bad.

I can see how people don't like the DotD remake (I personally love it), but damn, it has one of the best movie intros ever.
I'd say my favorites would be; Dawn of the Dead (2004), Zombieland, and 28 Days Later.
