I wish I had a grape tree /American
What the hell are you doing to get toxins in your brew??
It naturally happens with the yeast
a grape tree
Oh wow.
That's the joke :P
Oh wow.
Don't grapes grow on them fancy vine things? lol
Don't grapes grow on them fancy vine things? lol
It's an American joke. Most people here think they have a "grape tree"
I made some bitter at college. We got 8 pints each out of it or something. It was nice too.
Just to everyone that knows how old I am, I'm not drinking it (exept for the low-alcohol cider) I'm just makin it.

We make ginger beer around here. Not that high in alcohol but if it's left at room temp for a few days it gets a kick. More just make it because we like ginger beer.
Isn't Illegal to make your own alcohol ?
Isn't Illegal to make your own alcohol ?
Depends on what country do you live in. I think it is illegal in European Union countries and the US, not sure about the others. It's still legal to make all types of alcoholic drinks in non-union countries like Croatia for example, and everyone makes it when they can there. :v:
Isn't Illegal to make your own alcohol ?
I don't think so.
Drink it all. Become a man.
I found a bottle of mountain dew that had been under my friends for years and it had turned into alcohol.
Isn't Illegal to make your own alcohol ?
It is not illegal to make your own alcohol, it is illegal however to distil for consumption without a licence.
Just remember being careful... You would'nt want it to turn into Methanol. You won't be able to tell whether it is Methanol or Ethanol. There's a lot of sweds and norwegian fellas who have died by drinking it. So... Just be careful.
That's cool. How long is his fermentation time?
I don't know, 4 - 5 months ? He is making it like from the apples from our own yard. And can you tell the freezer stuff, what makes it up to 80% vol? ( btw, he is making about 40 litres )
sugar yeast water
Simple solution then, exploit methanols higher boiling point and boil it off, then you are left with only the ethanol.
Could have tried to sound less smart and said "Distill it"... Oh and the boiling point of methanol is lower than ethanol.
Could have tried to sound less smart and said "Distill it"...
Well yeah but I forgot the word for that :v:
I wonder of you could use this as fuel for a homemade flamethrower. That would be cool lighting shit on fire saying "I used apples to burn this"

Allowing him to pour off the concentrated alcohol. Don't take anything I say as fact unless you look it up and verify it yourself. That just seems the most logical explanation to me.
Yeah that's how it works in theory but you probably don't want to drink methanol
I wonder of you could use this as fuel for a homemade flamethrower. That would be cool lighting shit on fire saying "I used apples to burn this"
It wouldn't be practical, you could use other compounds far easier, like petrol and then say "I burned this using the flesh and bones of long dead dinosaurs"
