Constitutional representation?
The political system worked like this:
Various legislative assemblies existed in the colonies. These assemblies would vote on laws, which would be sent to the colonial governor. The colonial governor would then send it to the monarch for the royal assent for it to be passed into law.
The story I heard was the guy in charge (the story varies wildly from the King to Parliament to the guy on Franklin's boat, etc) kept telling our colonial governor to fuck off whenever they asked for anything, and then sent him back with "oh by the way you have this tax on you now, have fun".
Of course this could be distorted as hell, I've always been bad at anything history-related before about 1920 except where mythologies were concerned.

Most laws generally made it through. The ones which had trouble usually regarded the rest of the Empire.
One sore contention was that being a citizen of the British Empire automatically made you a citizen in the colonies. It didn't matter where, as long as the flag was flying. This annoyed quite a few colonists.
There was also a gerrymandering law, in which the governor noticed that electoral districts kept being rearranged to fit the needs of various American politicians. He banned the practice, and this was another complaint.
Weren't royal governors appointed by England, not elected in the colonies?

Well they were there to administer the colonies. The assemblies were elected though.
The governors came as representatives of the King.

Many of the colonists thought that the governors should be representatives of the people and not the king. That was partly the issue at hand.

Only problem is that when you say King George is your sovereign, having a representative of his to manage each individual colony is a good idea. Helps with administration because they can do important local decisions without waiting months for messages to travel by the sea.

Get the Kalmar Union back together!
The viking training is pretty simple yet effective as well, get the Viking Drill Instructor to yell at your face and you're ready to fuck shit up.
but if we had modern vikings they'd need to have modern weapons
which totally means chainsaw axes

Many news-sites talk about an imminent US default but none mention a date for this, does anyone know how long it will take before the US gov defaults?

The ceiling has to be raised either by tomorrow or Thursday, I'm not quite sure which exactly.
But the US won't actually go into default when we pass that marker, it may last a few more days since we won't automatically be broke right at that moment.
