Totally necessary in my opinion. The kind I use make your eyes pure white though, which can be equally as suspicious. They kind of burn too.

There is no way I can say this without sounding arrogant so bear with me. It's my own experience that I myself have seen and been through hardships that grant me some empathy and some critical thinking others are not in possession of. And whether this be truth or delusion, I have not come to terms with the differences between myself and my peers and each day it grinds me down a little more. So thus I again withdraw from society. If I stay to my current style of life I'm just crazy and different or "peculiar". I'd honestly rather be only talked about not in my own presence and called a hermit, than called inhuman to my own face.
So thus my decision is fuck everybody I deal with every fucking day of my life, and that I must continue to deal with until they hall me away in the meat wagon, you're all intolerable little shits and running our species into the ground.

If I don't smoke with my friends, I always either longboard or bike on the trail by my house and smoke at the creek near there. I use eye drops and when I ride back on the trail nobody really gives me any weird looks or anything, I just look like any cyclist/longboarder to them. So in my experience they help a lot. Usually the only way people can tell when I'm high is by the way I act.

Well if you're like me and usually get way too high, to the point of being obvious, it depends. People look more at physical signs of being high, most people have a terrible idea of what a high person actually acts like.
