Alright, I have a dilemma.
The store I tried ordering my MPD18 through simply can't get ahold of Akai. They've been calling and calling and they can't order it, they're going to keep on trying, but it wont be anytime soon that they'll be able to order the pad by rate of which things are going. I am going to try and order it online, but now I have more options.
Korg KontrolPad $169
I hear good things with this pad, but I rarely see hip hop artists producing with it. I just see a lot of Akai users. Also, [b]I could most likely still order this through the store.[/b]

A few more features than the Akai MPD18, will last me longer. Would have to order this online.

If I spend more money on a pad, I'll have less to spend on a keyboard.. but I'm probably going to stick with the oxygen 25 anyways and I'm going to be working again soon, so I might just spend the extra money.
Any thoughts? I will be using this for mostly hip hop and rap production.
I'd go for the MPD26.
That's what I'm leaning towards.
Pads are somewhat helpful, but nowhere near as good as an MPC.

lol that's because the pad isn't what made the MPC worthwhile protip: Kanye West's new album has a lot of beats made from the MPC

afaik the only difference between the MPC and the MIDI pads is that you have to load samples on the MPC on floppy disks which is a pain in the ass

This. It just came in the mail today, I've got it hooked up but I don't know how to set it up for FL Studio -- the pads do nothing at the moment. Any tips? I've got the FPC thing open.
I need a bigger desk and one of those USB Firewire port things, lol. Had to unhook my microphone to fit the beatpad on the desk. :v:
Also, if anyone has any awesome ambient songs like this they'd like to link to me, I'm looking for stuff to sample. Kid Cudi just rapped over this song for "Man on the Moon."

Got the MPD18 working but the beat pads play completely different ones in FL Studio, and most don't play at all. Hnnngh.

Deltron 3030 is pretty bad in my opinion. Del tha funky homosapien is a great rapper but the production sounded crap on most of it, and it seemed a bit rushed.

Got my MPD18 pad fully working, although I can't use the Oxygen 49 yet because my desk is too small. If anyone has some good sites for samples/drum packs, do tell.
Also, does anyone know how to record into FL Studio with the pad controller? Lots of people do it on Youtube but I can't figure out how.
