back before Kanye got all grown, it's cool to see him like this collaborating with other great rappers, as opposed to Katy Perry.

Sorry, if this was posted already.
I kinda already did--his cadence is good, his schemes are better than most charting rappers, and he's got a good sense of imagery. That connects with people--there's a reason he still has a huge loyal fanbase even after the shit with 50.
Even assuming that's the case, it's not exactly a glowing recommendation. His flow is decent, I'll give you that. His schemes are even good, albeit the rhymes themselves are often very approximate. And I guess his use of imagery is good-although most of it is wasted it on saying pretty shallow shit. I guess that's my biggest problem. His lyricism is absolutely shallow. Even on songs like "Prayer", emotion comes out kind of forced.
I guess I just don't like his storytelling ability. Plus he does a lot of stupid shit nowadays that makes me dislike him. Like that stupid little grunt. And his verse on John.
I'm not sure if anyone has posted this, but this is one of my favorites:

working on a new rap

I like that first verse in Pony Swag a lot TH89, your flow reminds me of Andre3000 and Nicki Minaj.
Also the assonance from 49 to 56 really ends that opening verse well. My favorite one so far.
Also if anyone likes Mos Def or 90's NY hip hop scene check out Urban Thermo Dynamic, it's Mos Def's group with his little brother and sister when he was really young.

Mos Def rules.

ps thanks! I love Outkast and Nicki Minaj. maybe the Minaj thing is partially from the beat, it sounds like something she would rap on.
I dunno what it is about Mos, I just can't sit down and listen to him.
Talib Kweli, however..

No words.
Nas & Damien Marley
Yeah it definitely sounds like a Nicki beat, what with the chimes and the bounciness of it. I wish I could think of the term for it, but the reason it sounds like Andre to me is because the lines switch from staccato words with the last being longer and stressed, to lines that follow the beat really closely and then kind of drop off at the end straight into the next.
Yeah I get that too sometimes about Mos. I think it's just because he's really raw.
This is a REALLY cool collab though.
