Hip-Hop acts that to my knowledge have never said "nigga": Aesop Rock Afroman Atmosphere B. Dolan Brother Ali Classified Common Cunninlynguists (I think?) Cypress Hill don't say it that much Dan Le Sac VS Scroobius Pip Del the Funky Homosapien Devin the Dude (pretty sure he doesn't say it much) Eminem of course Eyedea Gang Starr don't say it much The Grouch Hail Mary Mallon Living Legends Mac Lethal Murs Non-Prophets Sage Francis Sole Blueprint (I think he's called Musab now) There's plenty more. Just look around a bit. I'm not really a fan of brag-rap either. Unless it's a battle. That's when it makes sense. [editline]4th November 2011[/editline] oh and nerdcore sucks
common says nigga alot
Nah, I'm pretty sure you aren't intelligent if you use a retarded step-child's form of a racial slur, then expect it be taken in a friendly way. It's pretty annoying honestly.
How about you stop acting all high and mighty toward people who have grown up under circumstances you'll never have to experience, and start being thankful you WON'T have to experience them. Christ kid you sound like you've never even met a black person before. [editline]7th November 2011[/editline] Or have aspergers syndrome, I guess.
Take Care leaked. Literally shitting my pants
the instrumental is fire
Are there any hip-hop/rap albums that don't use the word "nigga" and have intelligent lyrics?
[editline]6th November 2011[/editline] Also Dan le Sac vs scroobius pip is more spoken word than rap. The distinction can get a bit blurry though
I like my nigga Drake music. He's my guy rapper. Lil wayne too.
Oh no, I have a different opinion than TH89, I must be acting high and mighty and have Aspergers Syndrome. I'm happy I won't have to experience them, but what does that have to do with the word "nigga" in rap? Being through hardship should build character, not destroy it. Regardless, the ghettos in America are heaven compared to third-world countries and it is pretty conceited to think otherwise. I have met PLENTY of black people. That still has nothing to do with the stupidity of the context of the word. [editline]8th November 2011[/editline]
I apologize that racial equality is a long-term and complicated concept that won't be cured in the course of 20 odd years
If it is a long-term and complicated concept, it is going to take more than changing a word. It needs something more like what Martin Luther King Jr. did.
you want intelligent hiphop?

Only recently chucked all my old rockist pretentions (aka long after I stopped regularly posting here) and discovered other kinds of music. Currently, the rap/hip-hop I've heard is generally of the late 90's/early 80's vintage - Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, that kind of thing. Good stuff. So, I'm now looking to broaden what I already know/like about this kind of music, and more importantly to get aquainted with more recent stuff, and I suppose this looked like an obvious place to stop by and ask.
