Gorgeous mosin, but $350 for a M44 is a rip, $350 for a Romanian mosin is an outright scam.
Yeah, I'd been looking for a Mosin since just before Christmas, and the only one I found amongst three shops in Pennsylvania and two in New York was a Polish M44 priced at $450. The price on these guns has been just absurd since the panic, and New York in particular is awful. I really, really wish I'd had the sense to buy one when I saw them two years ago, but that ship has sailed. As long as it shoots fine I'll be happy. I guess I could have bought it online but with FFL transfer fees I don't think I'd end up saving all that much, and it'd be a real gamble in terms of quality.
Don't dwell on it, you made the right choice. Post some higher quality pics so we can all enjoy!.
Local gun store had a Nagant sniper in beautiful condition. I would have bought it if I had $600 to spare on a bolt action rifle.
Oh man, my Polish M44 and a Finnish M27 cost me 300$ for the pair. I'd have a hard time paying $450 for a mosin thats not a sniper or ex sniper.

Definitely not a buyer's market today.
My local store had a M38 mis-marked as an M44 a few months ago. [sp]its gone now ;_;[/sp] [sp]When I get a job and I buy my first gun (Most likely an SKS or a Mossberg 500/590A1), I'll get another nugget after that.[/sp]
And if I recall correctly, the Finnish Mosins are all of what the Soviets considered sharpshooter quality. Definitely not a buyer's market today.
Yeah, apparently in the factories the rifles had to fire an insanely tight grouping before they could leave the factory. If they couldn't, they'd get disassembled and reassembled until they could. The Fin mosins also have a thicker and heavier barrel, so even more accuracy on top of their insane standards. My M27 is by far my most accurate mosin, probably my most accurate rifle over all.

What do you guys think of the Magpul angled grip? The way I hold an AR, I could see me using it, but at the same time, I'm so used to the rail covers that I don't know if I'd ever really use it enough, or if it would be comfortable for me to use.

The barrel system on the 500/M88 is stupid, the 590 is very similar to an 870. I prefer the 870 to all of them, and the 590 is a CLOSE second. It also has a Bayonet mount, any AR-15/M16 capable bayo will work. [editline]7th April 2013[/editline]
What do you guys think of the Magpul angled grip? I've used them on auto shotguns, 8 inch AR-15's, 16 inch ARs, AKs, I had one on my PSL for a while when I was using it as a Standard Rifle (no optics), its a nice system, but one con is you can't use it as a monopod behind cover like you can a VFG/Grip-Pod.

I'm used to a 20" AR where I grip around the rail just before the end of it; so my palm is usually so flat, I think the angle would be too uncomfortable for me to use. I've shot somone's SBR with one that was great, but that's a completely different beast.

I actually like to grab my SG556 by the magwell, but the magpul grips are alright, even on rifles where you can't do the Costa approved tactical carbine grip pose[SUP]TM[/SUP]
[t]http://imageshack.us/a/img203/1783/photoapr07140408.jpg[/t] Can't wait for my next range trip...
http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php?version=34 Solid Snake , never goes out of style.
Snake's Operator is a Professional, the custom guns SA does for HRT. They run around $3000.
Snake's Operator is a Professional, the custom guns SA does for HRT. They run around $3000.
Yeah, true. But that isn't in most peoples budget. It minimizes recoil by a lot.

I think it looks stupid honestly, but whatever floats your boat.
it looks stupid as hell and isn't very comfortable, but it helps you stay on target like a damn laser pointer.
Not a big fan but it doesn't really work with my SKS / Mosin / Mauser anyway so I haven't tried it on anything it would work well for
Just installed my bolt hold-open on the PSL that i forgot about. After a trip to a new range it works perfectly. Holding the bolt back on the last round unlike conventional AK systems. Rapid firing .22 into a silhouette at 30 yards is fun as hell. shot half my .22 out of my 522 and about 1/3 a can of 54R. feelsgoodman
Because 5.56 and .223 have so much recoil, right? I think it looks stupid honestly, but whatever floats your boat.
Because if you're shooting to save your life, you care about how you look, shooting? But yes, if you're shooting enough or moving, the recoil can be noticeable. I personally find it just a natural grip and fairly comfortable, anyways, though, is why I use it.
Because 5.56 and .223 have so much recoil, right? I think it looks stupid honestly, but whatever floats your boat.
lolno
Not a big fan but it doesn't really work with my SKS / Mosin / Mauser anyway so I haven't tried it on anything it would work well for
It's not really gonna work unless you're using a semi auto that you can grip all the way around. It's pointless to do it on a mauser or mosin because your thumb going over the barrel would block your irons anyway.
It is effective, and looks don't matter. I'd rather look retarded as hell and be effective than just looking cool and having terrible groups.
the point of those angled grips is so you can wrap your hand around the entire barrel, like this While being really tacticool and silly looking, it gives you a much more stable shooting platform and apparently makes you more accurate. I see no reason to maim my hand with heat. :v:
It's uncomfortable though. I'd rather fire slow and comfortably and stay accurate than spam lead down range in an uncomfortable fashion to hold tight groupings.
When I'm on the range I like to take my time between shots especially with how expensive ammo is nowadays.

I'd love that for combat drills (myself and friends made a long-mid range course in my field, the rule is no magnified optics. So I tend to use my SKS or my PSL with irons. ). It would be nice feature anyway. I love how the VEPR 12's have them.

It's a fighting stance, You want a volume of rounds in a precise spot fast. [editline]7th April 2013[/editline]
I have a PSL, who makes the bolt hold open? It's in the guns design, the center support should have a little notch in it for a piece that is spring operated and pushed up by a little stub that sticks out of the back of the magazine. You might have to buy it, I built my PSL.
