Hello gun enthusiasts. I know next to nothing about ballistics and I was wondering, has anyone ever tried to fill a hollow point with a primary high explosive like acetone peroxide or lead azide before? I know certain kinds of specialty ammunition are available to the military contain high explosives in them, notably the incendiary rounds, but I was just wondering if someone was crazy enough to do it.

None of them detonated. I wouldn't do it. It's incredibly dangerous and very illegal. Don't even touch Acetone Peroxide. Nasty stuff [editline]13th April 2013[/editline]
It's illegal to fire bullets that explode.
Well, you could get some, but you'd be paying a $200 tax stamp on each one
Now I'm even more curious :/
http://www.armslist.com/posts/1248685/greenville-north-carolina-antiques-for-sale-trade--m1-carbine- I really wish I had an outboard motor right now. [editline]13th April 2013[/editline] Good lord 5 minutes on armslist and now I'm seriously considering grabbing an SKS. How expensive is too expensive for a yugoslavian SKS? [editline]13th April 2013[/editline] http://www.armslist.com/posts/1256032/raleigh-north-carolina-rifles-for-sale--chinese-sks-like-new- Oh god it's right near me. That price seems a bit high, thoughts?

Just got my replacement SKS clips, I wore a couple of them in by wiggling them into the guide on the bolt, and after the first few times they slide in like nothing now. The guy I got them from on ebay is an awesome person for replacing them after they got stolen from my mailbox. They're stamped with a 31 in a circle and chinese according to the box. (I assume that means factory 31 or something akin to that?) [editline]13th April 2013[/editline] I kind of want to indulge my inner mall-ninja and buy a Chinese SKS bandoleer now that I have 20 stripper clips. This is rapidly becoming my favorite rifle (next to my M38)
Only 20? The Czech ammo I use comes pre-loaded on stripper clips, all 1440 rounds. Some poor schmuck at the border had to put a CBSA sticker over every 10-round pack in the crate too. I just throw the clips away because there's so many of them. I think I have maybe 20 set aside, and when the crate starts running out I'll save the clips from the last of the rounds too, then go looking for more Czech ammo pre-loaded on clips again.
As somebody who knows next to nothing about the SKS in terms of value, how much should I pay for a good condition Yugoslavian SKS?
In the US? Too much, like $250-350 ish, in Canada don't bother, get a Russian one instead, we just got a new boatload released so the price is back down to $189.

All right, thanks. I found a guy selling one with a 25 round mag, a 30 round mag, the original 10 round mag, and 40 rounds of 7.62x39 for $430. I'll see if I can talk him down a little bit. I'm sure we can work out some way to fit it in a body cavity of some kind to get it down south.
Man, my WASR10/63 was garbad and I don't really miss it, but I miss the Romanian foregrip I had on it, it was perfect in ever imaginable way. The gun it was attached to however, was not. RIP
I'd rather fire the gun without a handguard and burn my hand than use a romanian paratrooper one.
you're a silly goose
I wish I could find a Vietnam bringback SKS but I feel like I'd pay out cornhole for one be neat to have a genuine VC used rifle though

I like that sight.
Even better is that the rear sight spins so you can use the peep sight. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/zzV939dl.jpg[/thumb]
That's some fancy rear sight action
Thats a pretty niffty rifle you got there
Isn't that a French rifle? I remember seeing a semi-automatic variant as well, which was apparently replaced by the FAMAS. [editline]13th April 2013[/editline] Or was it the FAL?
You're probably thinking of the MAS-36 and its semi auto cousin MAS-49. [editline]14th April 2013[/editline]
I'd rather fire the gun without a handguard and burn my hand than use a romanian paratrooper one.
Any particular reason you're saying that? Forward-angled grips are actually quite comfortable.
Where do you live? If you live in the US, firearms as a hobby is insanely easy to get into. Everywhere else is all paperwork and permits before you can buy a .22
Scotland... I know.
I don't even need to say.
Is that a RIS bottle holder or just part of the scenery??
Scotland... I know.
I'm so sorry
Now I'm even more curious :/
Well unfortunately since you're Canadian your curiosity will never be sated, explosive ammo is completely illegal here.
Is that a RIS bottle holder or just part of the scenery??
It's a foot behind the gun. [editline]13th April 2013[/editline] RIS bottle holder, hmm...
Surprised this thing is Legal
I flinched like crazy and don't even care. This thing is amazing. Contrary to expectations, it not only didn't blow up on the first shot, but it worked smoothly and reliably and has the smoothest trigger pull of any firearm I've ever handled. Absolutely happy with my purchase.
Whatever you recorded that with is extremely sensitive to sound.
Whatever you recorded that with is extremely sensitive to sound.
It was my roommate's phone. It normally doesn't have a problem at all recording gunfire, but indoors + 7.62x54R + carbine-length weapon produced a heck of a report.
