Firearms X: Day 6,793; Nodak spud still on back order

Alright, so!
Here's what I'm looking to buy: http://www.armslist.com/posts/1501177/phoenix-arizona-handguns-for-sale--h-r-model-926-in-38-s-w
And here's the question: Can I use moon-clips in something like this, or would they be pinched when I close the cylinder?
[editline]23rd April 2013[/editline]
OH! Another questions!
If it fits, when it ejects the shells when I break the action, would the moon-clip eject with it, or no?
The moon clip would eject with the shells, yes. Don't know if the added weight would slow it down or stop it, though.

WOOHOO!
First you should check if there's a moon clip available for that revolver, .38S&W is a rimmed cartridge anyways, usually they didn't bother making moon clips for rimmed cartridges.

I've found a couple that sell them already. By the way, what calibers can a .38S&W revolver fire? Just that, or is it more versatile, like other revolvers?
welp looks like no hi power for me, oh well.

It can fire .38 S&W, which is also known as .38/200, and that's it. NEVER fire .38 SPL out of it.
By what you're describing it sounds like the bolt is simply being caught on the magazine by friction, mine did it too before i installed the piece. The bolt should stay back even when the magazine is removed and only come forward when tugged back like an SKS bolt. Check to see if you have this little piece in your center support and that it's spring is working.

If you do have it, No worries, It could also be a magazine problem.

See the little cylindrical piece on the far left of the magazine? Sometimes PSL mags can have this piece tucked into the magazine instead of sticking out. This piece is what pushes up on that little block in your center support and holds the bolt back. So make sure you have the piece, It's moving with ease, and your mag is pushing up on it and you're good to go!
That little BHO tab is NOT INSTALLED in my PSL. The spot is milled out, but there isn't anything there...
Where did you get your BHO Kit? Price?
Thanks for the help, man.
As a Marylander would it be wise to buy an ar15 lower before O'malley's incoming gun ban? As I recall The lower is the registered part and I could keep it locked away and eventually build it? or is that a bad idea?

Eh, Early bird madness got to me and i jumped on a 1911 frame and ar15 receiver. How bad did I do?
Do you guys think subsonic .22lr is enough to penetrate a zombie skull at a 100 yards? I would definately go with 223, but I'm worried about super sonic crack.
It is one of my goals to recreate this rifle:

Get a Mossberg MVP in .300 Blackout, That would be an awesome bolt gun that uses AR-15/STANAG Mags. I'd stick to 10 or 20 rounders, personally.
Another good one that uses a fixed mag is the AAC/Remmington Micro 7.

Those aren't even legally receivers, therefore, if the ban bans the manufacture of NEW ones, you better start machining them ASAP. Legally, you bought two hunks of metal. There isn't a serial number on either one.

Whats a good home defense pistol for a middle aged woman with arthritis? My mom needs a home defense pistol for when I move out.
Whats a good home defense pistol for a middle aged woman with arthritis? My mom needs a home defense pistol for when I move out.
I'd get nothing smaller than a 9mm, she may have arthritis but when someone is breaking into her house, I'm pretty sure she's not going to pay attention to her arthritis.
Thats what I told her, I was thinking of getting her something in .357 sig. Enough stopping power to drop someone, but without magnum-like recoil.
how different is the recoil between .357 SIG and .40?
Gunpunch, I leave this hear for all to enjoy. "'Murica. Beard. Bacon-eating-beard."

It's about mid-way between 9mm and .40. A little snappier than the 9mm, but not quite as front-end heavy as the .40, if that makes sense. Not like a .45 hardly at all, though.

Recoil is the same between the two. .40s are just cut down 10mm rounds. Recoil is incredibly snappy. .357 Sig is meant to match the performance of 125gr .357 Magnums. The major difference is the size of the bullet. Average .40 is 165gr to 180gr, while the average .357 Sig is 125gr to 147gr. In theory, the .40 is going to create a greater wound channel because it's a bigger bullet (Similar to 9mm vs .45). Of course, it's all theory, anything can happen in the real world. Both rounds are pretty equal in stopping power.
That being said, I do NOT recommend a .40 or .357 Sig for someone like your mom. You really need to shoot one of the two to understand why. She is going to need to practice with the gun. The hard snappiness of the recoil is going to discourage her very quickly, and most likely be painful. She needs something with mild recoil. Honestly, I'd probably even recommend against a 9mm. You need to get her a revolver in something like .38 SPL. They are stupid easy to operate, and felt recoil is incredibly mild.
The power of the round doesn't matter as much as people think. If she is practicing properly, she will learn shot placement. Even in unpredictable and stressful situations, people who practice always have some form of shot placement.
I've shot .40 before, and I actually like it more than 9mm; I was able to hit a steel plate at a hundred yards with a glock and keep a nice grouping, and I don't think the recoil is too bad when compared to 9mm. My mom isn't a granny, she's middle aged and still in reasonable health, she just has trouble with strength in her fingers. I'll take her to the range soon and fire off a 9mm to see how she likes it.
I'd get her a 92FS to be honest, low trigger pull in SA, recoil spring isn't too heavy so racking the thing won't be a challenge. That and 17 rounds of 9mm, especially some nice hollow points will put some people down.

Or a p226 if you can afford it.

I should get them Mid June, I believe this whole crap goes into effect in october.
I'm under the impression I need to finish drilling holes and engrave a number into the receiver by October and I should be good?
Or are there more hoops to jump through?
My main thing is I want to have the receiver, then build the rest of the gun eventually, is it doable?
It's in October that the ban comes into effect, so you've got time. I think December? is the deadline to register them with the state but I haven't been keeping up with the details lately so that provision may have been removed.

Buy a cheap bolt-action (remington 700 series for example) , get a reloading kit, a suppressor, chamber it in 7.62x39, cheap to shoot, can buy ammo by the crate, load your own sub-sonic rounds.
For the price of one .300 TACTICAL SNOIPAH BLACKOUT AMMERICAN FREEDOM! you can probably get a box of 7.62x39 :v:
I don't think they make 700s in 7.62x39, the only company I know who makes a bolt in that cal is CZ.
.300 blackout is only like $15 for a box of 20, it's not that expensive
Wanna talk about expensive? $36 for 50 rounds of 10mm, and that's the cheap shit...
[editline]23rd April 2013[/editline]
Wait wtf, checked prices again. $20 for a box of 50, ammo prices must've gone back down for a bit.
You wanna talk expensive? It costs your bank account balance plus your first born for a box of .303 nowadays

That still doesn't mean you can't get a gunsmith to chamber one in it. I find .300 Blackout to be overhyped.
