People are disappointed by this? Battlefront has always been a Battlefield reskin with third person view. I don't know what the fuck people are talking about when they're acting like it was ever anything more.
Did you ever actually play Battlefront and the original Battlefields (1942, Vietnam etc.) I don't know about you but they control a lot differently than eachother, Battlefield was a lot more strategy based where as Battlefront was mostly just arcade-esc run around shootin n killin. And that's mostly because Battlefield was a shooter game made for a shooter audience, where as Battlefront (Much like most of the SW games at the time) was a shooter game made for a Star Wars audience (People that liked the movies/universe not necessarily "gamers") Like the combat and movement in both series is actually different; like the several dozen bots running around the field in Battlefront, or how it takes like 20 shots from a blaster to kill anyone. Really the only common ground they have is; You take points on the map, you can hop in a vehicle, you can be on foot. Maybe when Pandemic were at the drawing board they just said "Hey the kids these days like that Battlefield 1942 let's make our own but with Star Wars!" but the actual finished product plays a lot differently than what it took inspiration from.
or how it takes like 20 shots from a blaster to kill anyone. Really the
funny, because i remember wasting half a clip/mag per dude in 1942 too
Graphics are impressive. Gameplay looks dry/recycled.
This is the dumbest post I have seen all year. It's a multiplayer FPS. "Shooting, guns, vehicles" - Gameplay looks recycled. Holy shit. You either enjoy multiplayer FPSs or you don't
I really don't understand the rose tinted glasses of space battle this was like, new and fun once, but anything remotely resembling this would feel way out of place given the rest of the game is troop oriented, vehicles being support/powerplay material to the ground troop push-and-shove if battlefront provides engaging aerial combat in the middle of the standard battlegrounds like the hoth scene from the trailer (there were star destroyers and whatever those big rebel ships are floating very nearby, they're likely carriers), I'll happily fly and participate in the fights like in battlefield, but it'd be a jarring change of pace to opt out of the core of the game so I can flop around a big empty area and shoot at occasionally shoot at enemy ships
The space maps were kind of boring, honestly. They were mostly the same with the only difference being one map had rocks in the middle. At least the dogfighting mode takes place on actual planets with obstacles and shit. I think that's more exciting, personally.
funny, because i remember wasting half a clip/mag per dude in 1942 too
You sure you don't confuse it with BF2? BF1942 wasn't anywhere close to requiring that much to kill someone.

Battlefront 2 may not have done it perfectly but I'd say it was still pretty great. Maybe a separate 'space battles' game would work better or something.
-snip someone already posted-
I wonder how many alien races you'll be able to customize your character. It would be badass if you could play as a Nikto.
You sure you don't confuse it with BF2? (assuming the DICE guys even know what "un-scripted preview" means these days)
I absolutely love how you can tell the rebel assault rifle and machine gun are just old german WW2 weapons with bells and whistles put on em just like the movies.
no "Attack Pattern Delta, go now!" line, 0/10 worst battle of hoth rendition ever [t]http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090714045409/starwars/images/6/66/Attack_Pattern_Delta2.jpg[/t]

Because I'm super excited for that, I always loved the original Rogue Squadron stuff.

That looks like a lot of fun! Oh man I am hyped, this E3 has been so awesome compared to the absolute corporate disappointment that was last year.
I noticed something in the trailer. Luke's health was slowly going down and being replenished with kills like in BF2.
I'm genuinely shocked to see the pace is so close to Battlefront's as opposed to Battlefield's. In a good way of course.
This reminds me of the PSP game Renegade Squadron. I'll miss Galactic Conquest and stuff but I'm willing to give the game a try.
Seeing how good this looks makes me anxious for a Republic Commando successor
I'm actually really curious what they do for land vehicles for the Rebels, in BF2 they just made up a speeder tank from scratch and rolled with it for the entire game. Even Empire at War just made up their own vehicles.

This is the shit I've been expecting for so long and I absolutely can't wait. Also, for the first trailer, does anyone know the song that starts at around 4:02? I've been trying to find it but I'm unable to for the life of me.
songs
Thank you so much. I've been trying to find the song and it was driving me insane.
3:04 in the mp trailer, did that snowspeeder just teamkill his buddy? Also if you notice on the radar the AT-AT has no presence, while everybody else like x-wings/snowspeeders/AT-STs/Darth Vader and luke do.
3:04 in the mp trailer, did that snowspeeder just teamkill his buddy? Also if you notice on the radar the AT-AT has no presence, while everybody else like x-wings/snowspeeders/AT-STs/Darth Vader and luke do.
yeah I'd been thinking that too as for the at-at, you could argue that the entire thing isn't technically a vehicle that requires tracking on the radar, given it's on-rails and only really supports having a gunner. You can see it from a mile away and would probably prefer to see troop movement on the radar instead of a giant red rectangle
Also the AT-ATs are still on rails. They confirmed gunner view back during celebration.
The AT-ATs weren't on rails before though?
The AT-ATs weren't on rails before though?
Technically, no. They didn't really enjoy being deviated from their path, though.
omfg everything sparking when shot or exploding is perfect tbh that's something that's missing from most star wars games
This reminds me of the PSP game Renegade Squadron. I'll miss Galactic Conquest and stuff but I'm willing to give the game a try.
As a little fun fact, Renegade Squadron was actually a stripped-down version of the original Battlefront 3. You can see this in the story and the animations.
