This, as well as possible switch to CO2 mags, as well as lightweight bolts, and cold weather lubricants.
I've seen handwarmers taped to the magazines themselves to keep them warm when firing too.
What you do is to keep the gas warm, you have to keep a lit match head on the end of the bolt, so every time you fire, it warms up the gas.

and the gas vapor that comes out of the ejection port and muzzle is smoke

Okay, successfully shot my first airsoft gun for the first time today. Used the little included packet of Goldenball .20g bios (saving the normal Lancer Tacticals for when I get back to Hawai). The 3x sight was misaligned, the BBs hit to the right of where I was aiming. My Uncle had his big toolbox/shelf stolen(California, where burglars break into a garage and only steal the biggest heaviest metal box shelf and leave everything else intact) so I didn't have any hex keys/Allen wrenches to zero it in. The hicap mag didn't load the last few BBs as expected, so those went to waste. Otherwise my first shoot/plinking in the backyard went well.

That's how I got my G&P M4 too, and I'm glad I came here first instead of buying something off of ASGI or whatever on a whim. The gun has gotten so many compliments at games, and people really like the weight it has. That and it performs extremely well.
