I'm jelly of all the alice gear, I never find that stuff at surplus stores anymore. The only thing I have is a canteen I got when I was a wee child.

So i kind of want to buy an src XM8 just to convert into the XM8 thing in blops 2. I know trying to make guns out of cod is probably the gayest thing any self respecting airsofter can do but fuck i am in love with that gun.

New CQB arena being made by Gamepod in Antioch, CA. It's a closer drive for me and it looks fucking huge compared to CQB City. Can't wait to try it out, supposed to open sometime this month. Okay so looks like the 3x carry handle integrated scope on my JG MK36 is broken. Might have been due to the fact that I had it as a checked-in luggage for two flights but there was another guy who wrote a review on ASGI who had the same problem so it might be a manufacture defect. Basically I have to aim a bit to the left and down of the target to actually hit it (same as the other guy) and no amount of adjusting will help center it. Wasn't really expecting much from a cheapo built-in scope but it would have been nice to be able to use it as a starter. I was thinking of just replacing the whole 3x scope carry handle with a regular railed carry handle. ASGI is all out of stock but Evike has them. Thoughts? Or should I just deal with it and aim a little off to actually hit things in play? I guess I can learn to just instinctively aim to the left and down. Its so much classier. Just us the magnification for spotting or something. Optics in airsoft arent very practical anyways.
Okay, so looks like I'll keep the integrated scope rail. Is a red dot sight effective mounted that close/high up on the carry handle's little rail? Can I even mount anything there? Pic for reference: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Wnp1L.jpg[/t]
Yes, but the trick is to calibrate the red dot to be aiming straight in front instead of aiming at where the bb hits. This way, you're only like 5 inches above in close quarters, but still totally accurate at range. If you aim the red dot onto a closely aimed shot, the dot will end up aiming way below at range.
And how would one go about calibrating a red dot to aim straight in front? I only learned how to zero in/calibrate iron sights on an air rifle so all this scope/red dot sight adjusting is very new to me.
It sounds like the spring that puts pressure against the scope for adjustment came out of place. If you're looking through the scope it sits at the 7:30 position. If it popped out that would mean you scope is now angled downwards and to the left, so if you looked through it and fired you would see your bbs flying high and to the right. Fixing it isn't too complicated, or at least taking it apart to fix it isn't. First loosen both of the scope adjustment screws. Pull the rubber scope cover thing from the front out. From there you should be able to see the small tube that is the actual scope and there should be a spring laying around in there. What you will need to do is place the spring at a 45 degree angle on the opposite side of the 2 adjustment screws. Haven't done this myself, was too lazy to put it back together, but it should be pretty self explanatory once you open it up. As for zeroing sights, this is my typical method whenever I switch out optics on my guns. 1. Adjust hop-up until bbs achieve wanted flight path. 2. Setup target between 20-25 yards. 3. Fire 5-10 shots, inspect the grouping. 4. Adjust vertically, fire a few more, repeat until the sight is vertical with the point you're aiming at. 5. Adjust horizontally, fire and repeat until sight is zeroed on target. 6. If you have BUIS adjust until alligned with red dot. In my experience if you're gun is zeroed at this range you can hit just about anything on the first or second shot. My T-1 on my SR15 is zeroed at 10 yards and I get consistent kills from 0ft-140ft with ease. For long ranges I just aim higher.
I mean it should be pretty simple, I imagine they're calibrated to aim straight right from the factory. Basically shoot a target a short distance away (maybe 30 feet), calibrate your aim left or right as needed, and make sure your dot is aimed around 4-5 inches above where you hit on the target. The idea is that if your bb was to have a perfectly flat trajectory, your red dot would be mirroring that flat path, and the only difference in aim vs. hit will be the few inches above the barrel that the sight sits on. If you were to adjust the dot on target at 30 feet, by the time you're at 100 feet you'll be shooting straight into the air. Trust me, by the time you have your sight and a day to plink around, this will all make a lot more sense.

I'll open it up tomorrow and see what I can do. Thanks for the information, it'll definitely help out in the future.

I hope their rules don't suck.
Makes me upset that California has constant pop-ups of CQB arena's yet in Lower NY we can't get even a small field dedicated to airsoft.

I'll stay updated on it though, hopefully they've got some pretty neat rules.
