Just got $140 in hongbao for Chinese New Years. What do?
My current gear:
1 JG MK36 w/crap carry handle scope
1 hicap mag
1 full face mask
1 8.4v 1600mah mini battery
Ziplock bagful of BBs
I'm kinda unsure if I should even use the MK36 as my main since mostly all places on island are indoor/outdoor CQB and it's G36E length with no RIS for a foregrip and barely any rail space on the carry handle for a red dot sight.
Should I get a cheap MOLLE chest rig and a CQB barrel trishot w/extra shells or just a Galaxy MP5k and carry mags in jeans camo?

You can use long guns in CQB, just as long as they aren't muskets like M16s. I handled my T91 and SCAR-H just fine.

I did CQB with my M4 that had the full length JP rifles front set installed, along with the longest outer barrel included (650mm inner)
The entire gun was almost 120 cm long.
I recommend you get a gas pistol with extra mags, maybe a Mac-11 or a Glock 18?

This is some loadout I have for CQB situations, a belt, a pistol pouch, a double pouch, a dump pouch, and a pistol and rifle. If I run out of ammo for the pistol I throw it in the dump pouch. That being said all of that gear is secondhand.

I don't know who you're buying from but the Condor Spec Op Plate Carrier is great for the $30 it costs. I've got two pouches from my gun bag for my mags (4 each) up front and a large Condor hydration carrier with the other larger gun bag pouch attached to it. The gun bag is Condor too so the materials and colors are all the same (mine is tan).
My only problem with it is that pouches and hydration carrier can't be centered, they both ended up on the far side of the plate carrier leaving one molle column visible which only makes it look a bit weird. Also once you use the buckle adjustments to make it tighter you'll probably have to move the velcro straps on back to make it snug. It's a one size fits all, and it will fit really big people.

Get gear for your original gun before you work on a second gun. You'll thank yourself in the long run.
All i got in my hongbao was a certificate good for two dumplings in chinese class.

Do G36 mags fit in M16 or AK style MOLLE mag pouches? M16 pouches seem like they would be way too tight.
Also, do RIS handguards exist in G36E-length? Everything I found is for G36C and seem to be too short to use on mine. A RIS system would be great so I can at least attach a vertical foregrip or PEQ box.

-I'd probably get one of the Bravo models over Firepower. Probably the same exact thing, but I know plenty of people who've owned the Bravos and enjoyed them. Also, depending on how tiny your CQB fields are, you might be at a serious benefit with the pistol grip or adjustable stock models.
-Don't bother with a shell pouch, just use pockets. The design and elastic bands in those pouches make life hell. If you want to go a little more high tech than flaps in your pants, consider getting shell cards, or a stock mounted shell holder.
-Consider getting a 1-point bungee sling, as they're very handy and make life easier. Having a sling is really good in CQB situations because it helps you to swap hands for when you need to turn both directions of corners.
Oh and for your gear question, have you considered belt systems like Alice and battle belts? I find them to be the most comfortable by far.
