G&G guns are high quality, but nothing is really comparable to a Real Sword. I'd say the G&G is good enough for your standard high action player, but if you're looking for a gun you can use as a ladder and then to beat a bear off with, only the Real Sword will cut it.
I'm really curious to see the izmash one in action tbh. I'mma root for that one.

I heard there's some electro-magnetic EBBR system being developed by RS. That being said they're probably still in licensing limbo or something with the recoil system

I just embarked on a little project.
I've never been very happy with the shape of my LCT AKS-74U wooden handguards, so I started sanding and dremeling them down. The upper handguard now has just about the same shape as real steel, and I just started on the lower.
When I'm done shaping them, I'll drench them in iodine tincture. This will give them a chemical orange/red color (and protect the wood from moisture I think). After that, I'll coat the handguards in my own blend of amber shellac. All according to Soviet standard. Will post before and after images if anyone is interested.

Update:
Done with the dremeling. It turned out surprisingly well. I pushed the LCT wood as far in the direction of real steel as I dared. Real steel wood has a lot more layers of plywood, so I was concerned that I might break the LCT wood. I might try engraving the last three digits of the serial number on my AK into the lower handguard, as seen on real steel.
Anyways, I've started applying the iodine now. It has such lovely color!
