Ironsights work much better on real guns than on airsoft guns. In general, you need to be able to see where your BBs are going- that's why open holographic sights are very popular. Scopes as well provide a better picture, allow the player to see where the BBs are going, and allow for IFF which is always tricky on an airsoft field.

Real-steel sights are pretty expensive, and even then I kind of see it as "cheating" to use magnified optics on real guns.
But yeah price is a main concern I have regarding real-steel optics. I could get an airsoft Eotech replica for $15 in Taiwan, while a real Eotech would cost me upwards of at least $500, so why bother? Sights are kind of a necessity in airsoft, as you can't always visually track the trajectory of your BBs, and a magnified optic can really help with that.
Both of my guns shit themselves yesterday. The M16 won't feed and the 249 grinds like fuck when I pull the trigger. I'm guessing the 249 is a stripped pinion gear, and I'll find out when I take it apart tonight, but havent got a clue on the M16. I've used two separate hop up units, replaced the nozzle, and have been using mags that have fed reliably for months. Suggestions? The nozzle does move when the trigger is pulled.

I would say try feeding BBs into the tube by hand to see if they feed- if so, it's a mag or hop-up unit issue.
Its not mag or hop up. 6 different mags and two hop up assemblies, same problem. I'll try feeding it by hand in a few though.

Only possibilities I can see are that the nozzle isn't moving enough to chamber the BB or something is wrong with the nozzle and it isn't expelling air.

You looped the tappet plate spring back over the mechbox peg in the front so it's got tension right?

Also is the G&G Top Tech A2 carbine equal quality to their other high end guns? it is considerably cheaper.
I'm all done with my handguards now. The reshaping turned out perfectly, but the finish is a bit glossy. It might settle in the next few days. I'll get my camera and post some outdoor pictures soon :)

if you haven't seen my FB, i ordered a 60"x36" roll of nyco ripstop woodland fabric (which was super fucking cheap)
i can also get real marpat fabric (nyco twill) (if it isn't real marpat fabric ill be mad) and AOR1 in nyco ripstop, multicam everything, UCP everything (i can even get nomex fabric which gives me bad bad ideas), DCU everything, and some other oddball things like saudi 6 color desert (the greyish one), and iraqi police blue digital (yes)
