Honestly, I did expect more out of this than they delivered, but even though I'm disappointed, it's at least not actually bad.
Since this is also kinda the Gainax thread too, today was the day everyone was hoping for the new evangelion 4.0 trailer but instead we are left with this.

I finally came around too and watched the OVA
Granted, maybe I was expecting something else entirely (the internet was especially crazed with a supposed "beach episode Kill la Kill OVA) but I found it really bad. More like an useless filler than a OVA
I don't know where to begin with, honestly: [sp]Rei coming back for the revenge was predictable as shit; I've seen that "evil clones enemies to face yourself" plot in countless fictions before, on top of the Elite Four don't coming to terms with their past selves at all and the clones being defeated in a rather anti-climatic way; Ryuuko, who is supposed to be the protagonist of the whole thing, doesn't do jackshit aside from providing a hope spot to the Senketsu fans; ...[/sp]
The OVA's only saving grace is a couple of nice shots and that's pretty much about it
Are we getting a second OVA or we are done?

Is Trigger just slipping then? The OVA wasn't that good, and their next project looks really mundane.

Contrary to how I think of the last episode, my opinion of the OVA keeps falling over time. I was hype as fuck watching it, now I just feel like they really didn't do a whole lot, or do it very well, given how much time has passed between ep24 and this.
Shit I am so late to the party. For some reason I felt like Kill la Kill was a hundred episode anime and didn't want to watch it. I just started by watching the first episode today and I completely regret not giving it a try earlier. Man, I'm always late to these shows.
I would have loved a better funded and planned out version of Kill la Kill, but I'm still pretty happy with what we got. I'd say it's overall at least a 7/10. It's really flawed and messy, but I also think it's exciting and endearing enough to overcome its flaws.
Man, I wish Underwater would hurry up with their subs.

yea, subs have been up for like 2 days on kissanime.
I know, but there's quite a few differences in terminology between Underwater subs and a few other groups, and I don't feel like switching over seeing as I've used Underwater subs for the all the regular episodes.
I didn't find the current subs out on the OVA to be low quality.
