Adobe after effects.
Sometimes they use Illustrator too to make vectors like text and shapes and stuff, though its probably easier to use the text function in AE.

There is nothing sexier than typography. Sadly I've never gotten around to learning it properly. I understand what font works for what and all that, but I can never seem to choose/find the right fonts anyways, which bothers the hell out of me.

Well most typography is supposed to be sending a message, so the point is to read the overall message, instead of reading every little detail.
