[*]Camo clothing, also, if your a lad, groin guard...
[*]When I played, I used 400, you just have to make everyshot count
[*]Yes you will get bruised.
[*]It stings more than anything, it might hurt for a few seconds, but just ignore the pain...
[*]Don't go rambo, you'll just get shot, many, many times. Don't go shooting other guys in the nuts, seriously, it's a dirty move. Play fair, if your hit, go out, or whatever rules you play by. Don't spray, NEVER, it'll get you nowhere. Don't be afraid of driving into the bushes...

will fix that..
Be reasonable now, not wearing a helmet is just idiotic.

Agreed. I took a fair few paint balls to my visor. I'm sure they would have hurt a LOT if they'd hit me clean in the face. When the paint ball explodes sometimes the plastic will take off a layer of skin if it hits you in the hand. I'd hate that to happen to my eyeball.
I got hit TWICE in the head in unprotected areas (top of the head, and the back of my head (back of the head was a dud: didn't explode, but it still hurt like a fucker). That hurt a fair fucking bit and made me dizzy for a while.
ITT: bad paintballers.
Wait why did that work in my qoute
blast, automerge.
Be sure to play at least 1 game of "Downed Pilot." I'm serious. Here's the rules:
One player is picked as the pilot, they are sent to hide somewhere with a pistol while teams are split into two: "Rescuers" and "Attackers," which both do what you would expect. The thing is, the pilot doesn't know which is which. Hilarity ensues.
EDIT:Or is that airsoft? Do they make paintball pistols? I R confused.

Played that, but the "pilot" knew who was the Rescuers, oh my god that sounds fun not knowing who the rescuers are.
Everything is funner with mindgames.
Wear gloves, a friend of mine had half of his nail ripped off by a paintball
Yeah, they do make paintball pistols, grenades are the best fun, I once took him some home made smoke bombs with me and purchased some paint grenades on site, best £20 I'd ever spent.
Good, If I ever go paintballing I'm bringing a pistol.

I've only done it once so far, and we had like 13 people per team. Unfortunately, unlike the OTHER team, ours had next to NO teamwork and communications. I eventually started barking orders at people and telling them to cover their side of the fort (or the barn when we were holding that from the enemy) because they weren't paying attention.
And the guy who shot me in the back of the head was on MY team. He was like, "oh, fuck! Shit! Sorry! Thought you were the enemy!"
This is the third "omg guis I am gonnna play paintball!!! Am I gunna die?! What do I do?" thread in the past month. Paintball does not hurt. Really, it doesn't. Even when people ramp up their guns to 400 fps it does not hurt. Wear a hoodie and jeans. The jeans need to be able to withstand sliding along the floor. Sliding into a bunker not only feels cool, but has saved my ass countless times.
Another tip: If someone is firing at your bunker and hitting the center of it, pop out and shoot them. They are just trying to suppress you and will probably be wide open if they feel the need to keep you in your bunker so badly. If they are hitting the center of the bunker they aren't going to hit you, you will be at the edge of the bunker.
Wear a hoodie over your helmet, though.

That. Paintballs to the head DO hurt.
wear layers
you will sweat like a motherbitch! Seriously i would wear a t-shirt so that you can remain coll and able to run around quicker, there fore you can avoid the paint balls rather than hoping your clothing will take away the sting.
Don't be a pussy.
Honestly, it's just paintball why do you need to ask us about it?
Asking about certain things on your first time for a lot of things is a good idea. A forum may not be the best place for this, and I'll give you that.
Protect your balls.
Buy 500 rounds, should get you through 2 hours or so depending on how much you shoot.
It stings initially when you get shot, then it goes away. It's not painful unless you get hit in the throat or balls.

The reason I got hit in the TOP of the head is because whenever I ran I ran with my head down to protect my throat. Didn't want my fucking windpipe to get crushed or anything.
I'd probably advise taking one to the head rather than the throat, though. It's not like it can do that much damage. I mean, not unless they're HUGE paint balls and travelling REALLY fast.

Was looking for tips and advice, Who doesn't enjoy having even the slightest advantage.

I haven't seen any, but seems there have been.
Thanks for the advice though.
I've been wondering- I've been interested in paintball/airsoft. What's the best way to find games locally?
:google:
Try a party with a friend, or ask around at local venues, they could probably get you into a game.

Yeah I'm not going with the many layers idea, Tshirt and jeans is my plan.
Play in a T-Shirt and long pants, don't wear thousands of layers like a whiny bitch. Teammates hate friendly fire, so look before you shoot.
well sorry mr bigshot. my local paintballer doesnt have 1 million dollars to spend on foam
I wasn't trying to be Mr.Bigshot. And it's basic in almost every single mask, you should have it for safety reasons. And even if you don't you should get it. Foam doesn't cost 1 million dollars. It's cheap.

Don't wear jeans, its hard to maneouvre in them. (Spelling fail.)
Wear old tracksuit bottoms or something.
Stay low and keep under cover. If you dont have a good gun the paintballs will drop so sometimes you have to imagine youre using the noob tube and aim into the air. If you flank them and get real close. go trigger happy. Dont even think about asking them to surrender. Next round they will be fearful of you and will blindly go for you. then let your team mates take them out. Also if you run out of paintballs youre considered out. Bluff like crap or save one to two paintballs and run around until the other team runs out of balls. Thats what I did when I played. It was mad.
SeriousPoster is being sarcastic and postwhoring...
1. What should I wear? Anything in particular?
Just shit you don't mind losing - old shoes, old sweaters whatever the fuck.
2. How many paint balls should I buy? My friends brother, who has played once previously ,suggested 1000, but knowing him I think he'd be a bit trigger happy going by his personality.
Depending how many rounds you are playing, 1000 is way too many (you can probably share that between 2 players)
3. Will I get bruised like some people have said I will?
Yes, but if you keep cover and play strategically, you won't get hit too much.
4. Does it hurt when the paintballs hit you? I know I'll feel it, but will I be in much pain?
Id compare it to getting a small stone thrown at you very fast.
5. Any tips for playing?
If the other team is winning, keep cover and peek out only to shoot. If your team is winning - rush dat motherfucker.
6. Is air soft the same thing as paintball?
No, airsoft is for pussies.

Jeans will be fine for me. I've done a fair bit of running and such in them, their sorta baggy, which I suppose is why I can run easily.

It didn't really do much to me when I got hit the throat last time I played, except for pain when swallowing a couple hours later. But yeah, getting hit in the head is the lesser of two evils.
