Well I was kind of expecting there to be a seperate tail rudder control as well as banking. The failure of such a control to exist is extremely confusing and hard.

Fuck I'm playing the console version :(
sweet tits that's cool!
I tried the demo and it seems pretty fun but I uninstalled it cause I had massive control lag (as in I moved my mouse to the left and it took like 2 seconds for the game to respond), although the game itself didn't seem to lag much.
Did you disable vsync? It's well known for causing real bad control lag.
Free fallin'
Look at the trees at 1:28 in the first video. Nice spinning.

I love you for telling me.
*Video just uploaded, HD will be up eventually*
Well because you all wanted it here it is, me getting back in the helicopter
[hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkgPNdWNI3Y&feature=player_embedded[/hd]
Long story short, you CAN get back in, but it's impossible to use the helicopter afterwards (although you can sorta land in it and it won't explode, but it won't ever take off again)
And if you don't like my choice of music, you can all suck it
In Battlefield 2142, you can go a bit over 2 miles upward. My brother actually managed to get back into his plane after about a mile drop.

Noooo god dammit I did this already, I was just about to record it. It's impossible with that little helicopter you buy from the black market, but with any bigger helicopter, you can get back in.
I really need to get back in and then do a stunt jump, I wanna see if you can hang from the out of control helicopter.

Just watched the video, you can.
Just attempted the get out of choppah- get back in - fly away thing. The choppah is falling down to fast, so that by the time you grapple it its below you and you get pulled into the roters.
But it is possible to survive a four mile fall by grappling the floor.
For my next trick: tether two helcopters together, get in, lead enemy chopper up into the atmosphere, jump out. see if my falling helecopter can drag the other one down to its doom.
also: teathe my jeep to an enemy helecopter. tug of war.
Nice, landing gets a 7.5/10
Try watching this video while listening to Iron Maiden's "Back in the Village", somehow it made it 10 times better.

Hence why I had to try it five times and when I finally did get back in on the fifth attempt it was because I grappled the tail of the helicopter. I had the whole "bouncing off the rotors" thing too
Not very realistic ragdoll physics imo. Falling straight down for 4 miles, and you bounce off the ground like a rubber doll? Yeah, right. You'd just smash into the ground, shattering every single bone.
Crysis already did this, but if you can fly up to anywhere and jump out that's pretty cool.
Crysis did what?

Ragdoll physics wouldn't apply, you'd just be a pile of mush
You would liquefy.
Amazing Atmosphere.

Exactly.
It would be awesome if there was a skydiving mission whereas your aim is to catch up and save the falling VIP while shoot enemies that skydive on the way.
The math is pretty weak. I just Googled some information about terminal velocity and didn't bother to fact check the information. After some estimation and simple math, I came to a number of about 4.03 miles. It seemed like an impressive distance to fall, so I just put it in the title of the video.
If you can more accurately judge the distance, feel free to PM me. I'll change the video title accordingly.
Edit:
I also felt that pulling my parachute would detract from the eventual pay off of falling and hitting the ground.
Stop, you're making me blush.
It's simple if you think about it.
Find the average mass of a human being, calculate the time and distance it would take for something of that mass to reach terminal velocity, use this to find the speed. Then count the time it takes for that mass to hit the floor once it reaches terminal velocity. Use this to find total fall distance.
I suck at maths and as such I'm not giving my full calculations.

Needs more XP support IMO.

That OS is 9 years old.
Plus W7 is better.
So, shut up.

That's probably a terrible idea for today's standards.
Please.

Fucking broke my automerge.
Actually another solution, and probably a simpler one, is to place a marker directly below you in-game. Like in this picture.
