LD, I posted it because I debated this for 12 hours yesterday, and I was curious how facepunch debate it.
is jackass replies your nature?
are jackass replies your nature?
Possibly.
Also fixed.
I'm kind of neutral on the subject. I believe humans are more important than animals and nature, but I don't think we should fuck over the natural world.
Humanity before nature, but nature does have a place, and it is not our right to disregard it. Without nature, there is no us.
ahaha, our progress is being slowed by militaries, poverty and religion. Caring too much about the animals is the last of our worries.
If anything, the military is the soul purpose we are so advanced in the first place. Do you have any idea how many products were originally military technologies?
GPS satellites for example.
What I mean is, the belief that human life is of significant (or greater value than that of another organism) is not taught
Yes it is. As soon as a child learns about the concept of owning a pet they immediately understand that we consider ourselves to be greater than all the other lifeforms here.

From a technological standpoint yes, i can see the military being useful, what i meant was more of a 'we still have the military to wage wars on ourselves, when the most logical outcome would be to advance at the same rate instead of competing with each other.'
humans are the worst animals... its as simple as that
humans are the worst animals... its as simple as that
I guess you don't like being one?
No other animals care which animal is the best except us, so we're our only judges. So, it's kind of like the internet, where nobody cares except you.
I'm anthropocentrist because we can't live without killing other life forms, but I think that we can learn a lot from nature, so we should try and preserve it.
Take a third option:
Plantcentrism: The plants are better than everything else.
:v:
I'm somewhere in between. Human life, and hypothetically any creature with intelligence, ability to communicate and awareness equal to human beings, will always take priority. However, I don't believe that gives people free reign to abuse animals.
It's a tad late to treat all life equal at this stage.
