i remember having to hide my vhs porn collection
When I was ~12 I would set the VCR to record at a certain time and have the cable box set to that channel. It was always really shitty porn and I'd be super paranoid and cut the tape when I threw it away so noone could find out what was on it.

And I never really got to use the internet until I was like 14? Then we played Diablo 2 all the time. Met my GF on Diablo 2 around then and now we live together.
i used to have to ask my dad for permission to use the dial-up all the time. and then i'd google search different planes and save hundreds and hundreds of jpgs to a folder that i used to browse through when i was bored. shit me that was a lot of pictures of planes
Without the internet, I had to buy gaming magazines just for the demos.
I'm currently 21 and I was the only kid in kindergarden to be allowed on the computer. I was never with the other kids and kept playing by myself so I played with Paintbrush in the office on a Windows 3 computer :v:
I remember not having the internet, was literally chilling at friends houses playing football in the street. Made me laugh though when the guy mentioned previously about knocking on someones house to realise they were not in.
Our 1st PC was without the internet encarta questions/ games was our entertainment.
Then came the 56kb modem and it ramped up from there.
The 1st game I played online was unreal tournament and some guy asked me what internet I used, I said AOL.
He called me an asshole online............
My grandad got Internet when I was about 8 or 9 and we all went over to check it out and were distictly unimpressed. Few years later we got a dial up connection at home, but we were never allowed to use it cos you had to pay by the minute. All I ever did back then was play Doom and C&C, as well as taking the computer apart to see how it worked (much to the annoyance of my stepdad). Also, Encarta instead of Wikipedia (lost days in there).
Also recording tits to VHS off late night Channel 4
Oh do I remember: I had friends and I found everything fun and amusing.
Also I spent lots of hours playing Unreal and Star Wars games.
I'm 25 and I remember going outside, playing with plastic guns with my friends, diving in pools and shit...

Oh and I used to watch TV and it didn't suck back then.
I remember my neighbor in Arkansas made me eat dog food... I prefer internet
I used to go outside more often. And if you got stuck on a game, you were fucked until you figured it out.
Well, you phoned people if you wanted to talk. I remember hanging out with friends after giving them a phonecall, hoping that they were home. We played SNES and PS1 games, without really having much clue of what to do or how to proceed if we got stuck, because there was no way of looking it up. I also remember sending a couple of actual letters. My family got a computer with Internet around 1998, but didn't use it for much other than the very rare e-mail and eventually Internet banking for a long time so it went on like this for many years until we got DSL and YouTube eventually happened.
Most part of my childhood the areas around my house were under slow construction so for a large part i was outside scouting the area, pretending i was on a other planet with a friend. Going around in a skeltor (Do people still remember those?) and like having guns while having fire fights.
Shit was awesome.
I remember my ma took away the computer because I was the only one in the house who used it, and one day she came home and I was looking at porn.
Now, it's not like I had my cock in my hand, fully erect, etc. I was just chillin there like "wow wtf is this".
I was 7
My father was actually one of the first 400 people to have internet access in the Netherlands, long before I was born, so I kinda grew up with computers and internet and such.
I remember we had our first family computer when I was 2 years old or something, it was really shitty but my granddad gave it us as he had just bought a new computer with a Pentium processor! We used that for a while and my Dad was really interested in it, so as soon as the Pentium 2's came out we bought a computer with one in. It had a graphics card with 8mb of memory and at the time it was amazing. I remember using the computer for games and played my first 18 rated game when I was 3, I was at my uncles and he was playing Carmageddon and he let me play it. I liked it so much my parents actually bought it for me along with one of those steering wheel controllers. So much time spent running people over.
I only ever really used the computer to play games, I was aware of the internet but only used it to play Shockwave (wow remember Shockwave?) games on the cartoon network site. I think I was about 6 or 7 years old when I discovered that you could use the internet to talk to people and communicate. I was never allowed to play games multiplayer because my dad was super paranoid about viruses, but it didn't bother me. I remember getting Unreal Tournament when it had just come out and having a lot of fun with that.
I think I was about 10/11 when I started actually using the internet to talk. I would play games online when my dad was out and browse forums and things like that. Discovered Garrysmod at some point in high school and that was when I joined Facepunch.
It's kinda scary how much computers have come along in such a short time, from pixellated low poly graphics to stuff like Crysis in about 20 years. Amazing.
I was born in 1996
you can't claim to be old enough for _____ if you start a sentence with "I was born in 1996"
I didn't have access to a computer until I was 10 and didn't know what the internet was until I was 12, does that count

My first memory of the internet was being disappointed at how I'm going to have to see ads all the time instead of just at predetermined intervals
I'm 24, and I didn't have full-time unsupervised internet access until I was 14 or 15. Before that it was all dial-up, which I remember quite vividly. I even remember using a Windows 95 computer without any internet access, when my entire gaming world was a bunch of shitty little demo games that came packaged on one CD. My family probably got our first Windows PC when I was around 7.
I remember laser discs very well, my dad was an early adopter. SNES was the console of my childhood.
Crop that tongue motherfucker, I lived off of demos it's just a shame I don't remember many of the titles anymore.
Anyone here remember Yahooligans? I remember that shit from elementary school. That was the only time I ever got to see the internet for quite a few years.
I remember playing with toys and watching a lot of TV.
And I used to eat normal food, now I eat a lot of shit.
also no one may age had mobile phones until i was like 16, so if you wanted to see someone you had to arrange to be somewhere.

My friend had a cell phone in the 4th grade, but it's a far cry from even cheap phones kids get now.
Like most people probably, used to go outside more often. I remember the first website I visited was about sharks because I had to do a presentation about them for some reason.
I think it was something about a door to the outside world
Pff, what would I know about that.
Console/handheld gaming and TV for me.
it was pretty good! no furry faggots yiffing, no 4chan cunts being cunts.

Furfaggots have been yiffing since the dawn of time.
Furfaggots have been yiffing since the dawn of time.
what.
i don't want to live on this planet anymore.
born in 87. We had an apple plus with access to really crude message boards on a 14.4k modem. Then we had AOL on our Apple Power PC with 56k. Then, we had a PC with a Pentium 3 700mhz (really fast for the time) and an ELSA TNT2 Graphics Card (early nVidia). Could play some mean Warcraft 2 and Starcraft. It wasn't until we got our 5mbs cable internet I could play UT99 online, ect.
So really, I've had internet my whole life. But it was a cool gadget back then, until around 96-97 when EVERYONE started using AIM. Then it became pretty mainstream. I remember making my own geocities page and styling my AIM profile.
