Hm, well I would really go instead to a nutritionist, not a normal doctor. Someone who specializes in weight and diet.
I think most health insurances cover visits to those doctors. You should check into it.
As for the research part, figure out your weight and your general dietary habits and any health/hereditary traits that you might have. Just run some google searches for ideas of how to handle your weight situation and how you can get slimmed down.
Be as proactive as possible.
When all else fails, there ARE alternatives such as weight loss surgery, but that is an absolute LAST DITCH EFFORT. I don't recommend it to anyone who hasn't exhausted all other options because it's not an easy process.
But you're not totally lacking in options of what to do. You just have to look into it a bit more.

I would avoid Lap band surgery. A friend of mine had it and all it does it make him throw up when he eats starchy things. No potatos but all the ice cream he wants. Got a little skinnier but still not healthy.
Walking is good. Walk for an hour at a decent pace and it's as good as a 15 minute run. Just get out and get moving, anything helps.
Lap band is shit and I don't recommend it at all.
Both my sister and father had gastric bypass. But thing is, it's a life changing thing. You have to be absolutely sure you're ready to make that commitment to your health.
I wouldn't know anything about a nutritionist or a dietitian, and if I bring it up to my mom she'll say we'll get around to it just like every other time I try to improve myself. I would go myself if I was 18/had any money to pay them currently. And I don't know where to start for that last bit.
Ach, that sounds like it really sucks man. Well, right now, I would say focus on your nutrition/exercise as much as you can by yourself, and get a job so when you are 18, you can visit the professionals who can give the help you need. And remember, although facepunch can be faceless and cruel a lot of the time, I'm sure that there are people here willing to help and support you, so stick with it. There is a lot of knowledge on this forum, use it to your advantage so you can better yourself sooner rather than later. Ask around, and don't be afraid, we can help you out if you want to help yourself out. We can't be there for everything, but we can help you make better, more reasoned decisions if you are about making them.
Keep your head up, things should work out just fine.
I'd rather be fat for life than undergo weight loss surgery, considering the possibilities. If I were fat I'd just drop everything and put every once of effort into running, and eating smaller and right, but I'm extremely persistent...
Mm. Yeah it's a huge risk. BUT, well worth it if it succeeds and you stick to the diet that's given to you.
The surgery itself is risky. It CAN go wrong.
The recovery time is long, difficult, and an uphill struggle.
You don't eat solid food for at the very least, a month.
Shots in your stomach the first week.
You can't walk on your own until about 2 weeks in.
You're restricted to drinking stuff to supplement protein and other things that you need for that month you can't eat.
Some of your favorite foods will have to wait until you're fully recovered.
Smaller portions. If you take one bite more than you're able to, it could affect your stomach and digestion. And by smaller portions I mean 1/8th of a burger, one fry, and a bottlecap full of water. At first.
Your normal eating habits return eventually, but it's a LOONG road. But both my sister and dad lost well over 200 lbs and are now healthy and look great. They're also out of the danger zone of diseases caused by obesity. Which is a fantastic trade-off for the hard recovery.
You just have to consider your lifestyle and if you're able to handle something like that.

la bicicletta is great because it doesn't feel like work - you can have fun while you get in shape.
An hour walk for me is possibly enough to kill a knee. I've walked for 20 minutes before and collapsed from the knee/back pain. It really sucks.

Is there anyway you can convince your parents to buy you healthier food? A solid diet is the biggest factor in every physical endeavor.
Also, you may be better off doing something that isn't cardio at first considering the stress that your weight puts on your joints. I would consider investing in a medicine ball (6, 8, or 10lbs, shouldn't matter much). There are a lot of exercises that don't require you to do more than stretch a muscle to get a good burn.

seriously, you need to see a doctor. Sit down and have a serious chat with your parents about it. If they ignore you, look up a dietitian and tell them your situation with your parents ignoring your requests, and see if the dietitian can talk to your parents over the phone.

It's not really ignoring, it's more of them putting it off because they don't want to get healthy. The best part is my mom is diabetic and she barely leaves the couch it seems.
Question.
I wear a Trilby.

I wear it decently, and my friend does too.
We're chill, and tend to get asked were we get them.
Now, my question is: WHY THE FUCK AM I BEING COPIED? FIRST MY BAG, NOW MY GODDAMN HAT?

Putting it off sounds just about the same as ignoring. Seriously, take my advice.
Diet is the most important single factor in your health, body composition and overall appearance. We'll start slowly;
Food determines how big you are. If you consume more calories than you expend, you will get bigger. If you consume fewer calories than you expend, you will get smaller. If you meet your maintenance needs, you will stay the same. Regardless of your metabolism, body composition, genetics, or whatever, at some point your body must obey the laws of thermodynamics. At the end of the day, everything is calories in and calories out.
You can't get big if you don't eat big. That goes for muscle, fat, whatever. You can lift huge weights 10,000 times a day, and if you dont eat more calories than you expend, you won't gain a milligram of mass. Conversely, if you burn 10,000 calories a day and eat 11,000 calories a day you will gain weight. Exercise plays a big role in what that extra weight becomes (fat or muscle), but the weight comes from food.
Yeah, /fit/ and Something Awful.
deal w/ it. :colbert:

If you can barely walk for 20 minutes you need some serious help. Even if your parents eat shitty foods, you can still lose weight. Just eat half as much as you use to, and no soda or desert.
I agree with sp00ks on the diet stuff. In our family it was ungrateful to leave food on your plate, you should eat it all up if you want to be polite. It was almost always too much food. The portions were oversized. But I've started asking my mum to put less food on my plate, and I think it's starting to help.
A huge help is to notice when you are actually full. You can eat and eat before you realise you're full. Realising when I'm full and not stuffed is helping me to reduce useless calories.

If you're not living in an area where starvation is common, that is the most stupid thing I've ever heard.
it just courtesy, when a cook spends time on a dish and really put themselves to it you better eat it.

What I normally do is tell them before hand they might of given me too much and I might not be able to eat it all. If the cook just leaves it as a normal size dish, if they are still hungry I'm sure they could ask for more.
