Yet it's still a theory and you're 'boxing' me for saying it. What?
Yet it's still a theory and you're 'boxing' me for saying it. What?
Because you were: -implying theories aren't "hard facts" -implying theories can advance to the classification of "hard facts"
Although I guess I should have said it's not 100% confirmed if that really would have made you all happier. [editline]22nd June 2011[/editline] Goodbye automerge.
Although I guess I should have said it's not 100% confirmed if that really would have made you all happier.
No because that could apply to every scientific theory and everything for that matter. For all intents and purposes it should be considered a fact.
Evolution is still a theory and is classified as such. I believe in it but there is a lot of room for evidence to further turn it into law.
Evolution is still a theory and is classified as such.
It can be but so can a lot of other things, which is the main reason why there is such a conflict between religion and the theory of evolution.
What?
Why are really good-looking people always so fucking stupid?
So you're telling me it should be considered a fact. I don't care what you consider it to be, what is it classified as. A theory.
God fucking damnit, Kentucky.
She's got to be one of the worst. "I believe you can never have too much knowledge. But we shouldn't teach evolution because there's just so many aspects to it!" [editline]23rd June 2011[/editline] :smithicide:
It doesn't work that way. Scientific theories do not "graduate" into scientific law.
That is how it works, you are just dense.
So you're telling me it should be considered a fact. I don't care what you consider it to be, what is it classified as. A theory.
The evidence is astronomical, so it's basically fact. Sorry, but relying only on classification is stupid.
So you're telling me it should be considered a fact. I don't care what you consider it to be, what is it classified as. A theory.
Do you think I'm making this shit up? Theories are considered facts. [editline]22nd June 2011[/editline]
That is how it works, you are just dense.
Uh no it's not. http://wilstar.com/theories.htm A theory refers to broader phenomenon.
Do you think I'm making this shit up? Theories are considered facts.
the·o·ry/ˈTHēərē/Noun A supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, esp. one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained: "Darwin's theory of evolution". law/lô/Noun A statement of fact, deduced from observation, to the effect that a particular natural or scientific phenomenon always occurs if certain conditions are present
Evolution isn't a 'hard fact' yet though, I do believe it's still classified as a theory.
Theory or not, I for one have learned that long before humans were even born, dinosaurs and other great animals have inhabited this planet, ranging from the bottom of the sea all the way to the depths of the darkest caverns. I mean there is no other thing to believe in, when it comes down to evolution. We know so much of it it's almost over-whelming to think how far we've come with all the evolutionary turning points etc. And.. as a matter of fact, it's not even a matter of believing when you talk about evolution.
the·o·ry/ˈTHēərē/Noun A supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, esp. one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained: "Darwin's theory of evolution". law/lô/Noun A statement of fact, deduced from observation, to the effect that a particular natural or scientific phenomenon always occurs if certain conditions are present
These seem pretty different to me bro.
Alyssa Campanella for Miss USA 2011, the ONLY one that would admit to 'believing' in evolution
1: I believe in evolution. 2: My point is that it's still a theory. 3: Brilliam I don't care what you think it should be classified as, that doesn't make it not a theory.
2: My point is that it's still a theory.
Who cares, though? ...you do realize that a theory will always be a theory, right?
1: I believe in evolution. 2: My point is that it's still a theory. 3: Brilliam I don't care what you think it should be classified as, that doesn't make it not a theory.
Yes, but it's also a fact and that isn't changed by the fact that you are dense. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fact http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/scientific+fact http://www.thefreedictionary.com/scientific+fact Here is the definition of scientific theory: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_theory Given that the all of the above are true, then theories are facts.
I don't believe in evolution. I just know that it is what it is. Edit Why the dumbs? It is what it is, evolution. And it's remarkable!
But it's still a theory which is ALL I'M TRYING TO GET ACROSS. Why do you keep putting words in my mouth.
But it's still a theory which is ALL I'M TRYING TO GET ACROSS. Why do you keep putting words in my mouth.
When you make a statement like this:
Evolution isn't a 'hard fact' yet though, I do believe it's still classified as a theory.
And then try to refute it, I'm going to assume that you believe theories aren't facts when they fit the classification for them.
When you make a statement like this: And then try to refute it, I'm going to assume that you believe theories aren't facts when they fit the classification for them.
A theory is a collection of facts to explain how an event occurs, a law is a collection of facts that cannot be disproven. Aka 'hard fact'.
When you make a statement like this: And then try to refute it, I'm going to assume that you believe theories aren't facts when they fit the classification for them.
Wow and then you read the spot where I said.
Although I guess I should have said it's not 100% confirmed if that really would have made you all happier. [editline]22nd June 2011[/editline] Goodbye automerge.
And realize you're putting words in my mouth.
A theory is a collection of facts to explain how an event occurs, a law is a collection of facts that cannot be disproven. Aka 'hard fact'.
Yeah, but that's not the scientific definition of a fact and by that logic, absolutely no explanations of natural phenomenon can be considered fact. [editline]22nd June 2011[/editline]
Wow and then you read the spot where I said. And realize you're putting words in my mouth.
Yes, but that's wrong too because:
No because that could apply to every scientific theory and everything for that matter. For all intents and purposes it should be considered a fact.

Yeah, but that's not the scientific definition of a fact and by that logic, absolutely no explanations of natural phenomenon can be considered fact.
If you want to go by exact definition, webster has you proven wrong.
Yeah, but that's not the scientific definition of a fact and by that logic, absolutely no explanations of natural phenomenon can be considered fact. [editline]22nd June 2011[/editline] Yes, but that's wrong too because:
So you're telling me evolution is 100% confirmed, I'm reading that correctly right?
If you want to go by exact definition, webster has you proven wrong.
Explain how either of these definitions:
the·o·ry/ˈTHēərē/Noun A supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, esp. one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained: "Darwin's theory of evolution". law/lô/Noun A statement of fact, deduced from observation, to the effect that a particular natural or scientific phenomenon always occurs if certain conditions are present
refute my statements of: -Scientific theories and laws are different and are not ranks in a hierarchy -Scientific theories fit the criteria of a fact
Explain how either of these definitions: refute my statements of: -Scientific theories and laws are different and are not ranks in a hierarchy -Scientific theories fit the criteria of a fact
Because your word isn't worth anything.
So you're telling me evolution is 100% confirmed, I'm reading that correctly right?
Nothing is 100% confirmed. But evolution fits both of the criteria for a theory and a fact.
