I primarily blame Lars. It was still a goddamn awesome show though. My scalp is peeling from being in the sun so long but it was still totally worth it. I honestly think Saturday was Metallica's best setlist of all time. Period.
Also James and Lars decided to fuck with the crowd when they announced Escape. James asked if there were any other songs they haven't played in a back-and-forth with Lars and then they started jamming The Frayed Ends of Sanity and everyone cheered and chanted along for it...but no they didn't play it
I still try to defend Lars to this day but he is going downhill so fast its not even possible anymore. He just can't play anymore. You look at people like Benante and Lombardo or even someone like Mickey Dee and you see that they've still got their chops, and Lars can barely keep time anymore.
Don't know why though.
Learning escape now, need to jam it out.
From what I've seen of those videos of the band in the tuning room, Lars just seems kinda lazy with his drumming. It's like he's given up on trying to be good and just settled with mediocrity.
I'm calling it now next year will be a Damaged Justice return for the 25th anniversary
I hope to any and all deities that may or may not be that it happens.
It probably won't, seeing as they noticed audience members "yawning" because the songs were too long. It's pretty disappointing; I love ...And Justice For All. It's my favorite song off that album.

Ride The Lightning (the song) is about as long as most of the songs on Justice. Nobody was yawning during Blackened. The only truly long song is To Live Is To Die, which IS my favorite, but if they HAVE to exclude that in order to play a Damaged Justice tour so be it
I agree. I'd love to see them do a tour of Justice.

@ Last page's discussion.
i tried recording a multi-track cover and decided to go with To Live Is To Die. as an added challenge i did it all by ear

i got a few things wrong and the rhythm is off but otherwise i think i did okay
and the quality sucks because i recorded the tracks with my phone :v:
Someone I know did a cover a Master Of Puppets, he the singer of a KC Melodeath band

Heard that Metallica played Helpless in Mexico City, anyone knows if it was the whole song? Or the cut version?
Also, anyone noticed that Metallica are on a roll rately? James's vocal are getting better, Lars seems to put more effort into songs (still, he could got on some drumming lessons). Rob kind of got a hold on backing vocals. Well now it's your turn Kirk... (but i'm happy knowing he's still capable of writing some cool solo's, like on Beyond Magnetic).
Maybe he'll write a country album when Metallica is over (if it ever ends).
I'd buy it.
and use an actual trashcan in place of the snare
dunno what you guys have against the snare in st anger.. I like it :v:
the lyrics on st anger are really deep
and not ~~deep~~ like pseudo-deep, actual meaning and thought. maybe it's just me over thinking it.
i agree, some lyrics aren't as "poetic" as the earlier stuff, but it means a helluva lot. And I can relate to it extremely well when I'm angry/depressed. I don't think I've been able to connect more with an album than with saint anger.
"It comes alive, and I die a little more
And the unnamed feeling... It comes alive"
"She holds the pen that spells the end
She traces me and draws me in"
"All the shots I take, I spit back at you..
Shoot me again I ain't dead yet"
"
not really that deep IMO, but really clever use of metaphors
Well when i say deep, i mean you need to do a little more than just scratch the surface to find the meaning of the song, even when the lyrics have explicit descriptions and narrations, which is pretty impressive
dude that's like the best part!
I think the "kill kill kill kill" part is amazing. Blind, raw, brutal anger.

Plus, the unreleased tracks from St Anger (mainly the presidio recordings) sound really good.. Shame they don't put any on the actual record

(fun fact: the main riff was actually used for All Nightmare Long)
the "kill" part sounds funny to me for some reason
if the '83-'86 james would have sang that it wouldn't sound as weird i guess

all three of those excerpts could be lulu outtakes

if 83-86 james would have sang it the underlying song wouldn't have sounded like shit
You're a bit too harsh. Calling these lyrics Lulu outtakes, come on now.
