My favorite Black Album songs are Sad But True and Through The Never.
Holier Than Thou and My Friend of Misery are good tracks on that album aswell. I like Holier tho, the riff is cool and the bass is awesome as well.
Nice covers Pandaman, the tone is pretty good on Suicide and Redemption :D
Couldn't you have done a good song?
if the crowd liked it thats good enough for me

Oh wow I almost forgot about My Friend of Misery and The God that Failed, both songs I also love.
Nothing else matters is another great song from that album.

It is, even if that's also a bit overrated. It's a great song, but it's not exactly a shining example of Metallica. Even the Black Album has songs that have more of that "Metallica" feel than Nothing Else Matters, or The Unforgiven for that matter.
For example, Through The Never is like the perfect blend of the old thrash and the new hard rock-esque style, and it definitely sounds like a fan would expect a Metallica song to sound like.
Nothing Else Matters is still awesome, though.
I tried playing For Whom the Bell Tolls on my bass today, I must be shit because I couldn't move my fingers to the right notes fast enough...
Seriously, isn't this supposed to be easy as piss?

did u have cold hands or fingers? were you sliding your index finger down each note or using ring, middle and index finger? because dude that is easy to play.
I may have fucked up the format a little more, but you should get the picture.

I dunno what's wrong, I was using my index, middle and ring fingers but they were stretched out a bit, which is weird because I have huge hands...
just having a bad day perhaps?
Probably, I'm kinda getting it now. I'm playing it like this: (M=middle finger, I=index finger, R=ring finger) "0-3(M)-2(I)-1(I)" and repeating it until the "0-2(M)-3(R)" If you know what I mean by that.

I play it like 0 (open, no finger needed) 3-R 2-M 1-I, then 0-open 1-I 3-R 3-R
works just fine for me and I have medium/little bigger then AVG hands
honestly i wouldn't slide/hammer-on that part

I'm not really sliding or hammering it, I hit the 2 note, put my finger (on my plucking hand) back on the string, move my index finger to the 1 then hit that one.
That sounds more complicated than it is...
You'll get better over time. Just keep playing.
I've been playing bass for a little over a year now, and I started by playing For Whom The Bell Tolls as well. I had a similar problem, but now I've improved a lot.
Just use I for 1, M for 2 and R for 3 and you'll be fine
Bumpidy, Load is coming to Vinyl.
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/metallica_load_goes_to_vinyl.html
Continuing to make good on the promise to re-release their entire catalog on vinyl, Metallica has announced that their sixth studio album, Load, will be released on May 18. As with all previous vinyl releases from Metallica, there will be two packages: a two-disc gatefold package for the 33.3 version, and a box for the four-disc, 180 gram, 45 r.p.m. deluxe edition.
Debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on June 4, 1996, Load spent four consecutive weeks at No. 1 on its way to selling over five million copies in the US. Clocking it at 78:59 minutes, it is Metallica’s longest studio album to date.
It is not yet known which brick-and-mortar record stores/chains will carry Load on vinyl, but copies will definitely be available at Metallica.com.
Speaking of Load
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/testament_pantera_criticise_metallicas_load.html
Members of Testament and Pantera have slammed Metallica's 1996 album Load in a new book about the thrash giants' frontman James Hetfield.
In James Hetfield: The Wolf at Metallica's Door by Mark Eglinton, Chuck Billy of Testament and Rex Brown of Pantera and Down criticise an album which Hetfield himself recently admitted to having been uncomfortable with.
Load represented a departure from Metallica's earlier straight-ahead thrash construction and featured simplified, more bluesy stylings in its place. And while it propelled them to the stature of one of the world's biggest bands, many fans found the release a disappointment.
I like Pantera, but they seem to forget they were once a glorified glam rock band...
ffs why is there no automerge, it was back like a couple of weeks ago
Does anyone else think that Metallica should play the entire Black Album next year for it's 20th anniversary?
No.
Just no.
Metallica is finally come to Australia this year!! There's no way I'm going to miss this!
Metallica is finally come to Australia this year!! There's no way I'm going to miss this!
If I miss it I will kill myself.
I'll see you there then!
Or I'll go to your funeral...
What city do you want to see them in? I'm closest to Sydney so that's kinda my only option.
I'm in Vic so Rod Laver is closest to me. How much is the tickets?
No idea, the start getting sold on May 13, and only the Metclub members get pre-sale info... They play in Sydney on Novermber 10th and Melbourne on November 18th.
[editline]06:58PM[/editline]
Do you get a seating choice when you buy the ticket or is that just for the pre-sale ones?

Seating = :munch:
Standing = :rock:
Get general admission, having been to many concerts, sitting is fucking lame, regardless of if you just want to "enjoy the music". My friend used to say this, and he'd always get seated, but as soon as he stood for a concert he never went back.
That is of course, if you can get standing, it it's all seating for some crazy reason then go ahead, but if you can get General Admission / Standing / Floor / Whatever they call it go for it, you won't regret it.
General admission tends to sell out to the fanclub presales and/or credit presales (namely the American Express ones).
Plus they cost a fuckton for bands like Metallica, so I see why many people stray from going that route.
Even still, I'd say it's worth it if you like the band enough (or the tickets are cheap enough).
Fuck, I hope they don't cost too much... As I said earlier, they start selling on may 13th. So, I should have about $300AU by then. Getting to Sydney is no problem seeing as it isn't until November.
[editline]12:40AM[/editline]
It'll be my first concert ever, so that should be awesome if I can get there.
yeah don't sit it'll kill it
but it'll be expensive. After all, Metallica are a huge band.
It was £90 for Slayer tickets and £60 for Motorhead ones.
Motorhead haven't been but I don't think I'll pay that much. Didn't go to slayer, £90? fuck off :v:
Seated Metallica tickets were £45 in Manchester and Standing for £50 but maybe the Aus promoters might take advantage and jack up prices like in Asia and South America.
Just stay up until the day ticket sales opens and keep phoning the venue or refreshing the online page and you should be fine.
